SV 8000 motor issue

As stated, issue is when moving from one Canadian satellite to the other, the dish has trouble locking onto a channel. SV finds the channel, gets pic and sound, but then moves on, re-finds it, moves on. Sometimes it "finds" it 4-5 times. The signal/quality is strong.
I've changed the connectors and the InvacomQPH 031 lnb appears to still be moisture proof.
The motor doesn't seem to be noisy but has some miles on it...

Have you checked the DC voltages?? +13 and +18 volts DC (depending on the transponder polarity's) are the normal when moving the motor, you can test this by disconnecting the coax to the LNB (at the LNB) and use a DVM volt meter,(center pin to outside of the connector) try looking for a satellite at the end of your travel, and see what the DC voltage is, if one volt lower then normal it could be a power supply problem in the receiver.

Also do the same for AC ripple, (set meter to measure AC volts) there should be less then 100 mV AC ripple on the coax when moving the dish. (the lower this is the better)

Also is the coax grounded??? If not then it could be excessive noise on the coax.

The SV8K's are notorious for popping caps in the power supply, this can affect things as far as power to LNB's and motors, look for any electrolytic caps (look like cans) with bulging tops, these are bad caps, they can be replaced. (by you or someone with soldering skills)
