I installed a MAG box with OK2 for an older relative who is 92 years old. She has 5 favourite TV channels and not interested in any other channels nor the on-demand movies.

She frequently struggles whenever the box is rebooted. The box boots to some channel playing and now she has to press OK then Left arrow to get back to the TV section, now she has to select English then press F2 and select Favourites. This may be easy for most of us to someone her age, she cannot remember and it leaves her frustrated.

Is there any way that I can eliminate all the TV countries except English, and even eliminate the on-demand and other sections, and force the box to always default to showing the favourite channels instead of All channels?

Is this an issue tied to the the specific box model (MAG322)? Would switching to a different box allow me the option of minimizing the user interface?

I appreciate any ideas and advice.

Thank you.

As dishuser posted the buzz will solve your issues
You can set up your 5 channels in favorites and you can hide all the other categories. It can also be programmed to go straght to live tv on boot and it will boot to favorites The guide will also only show those 5 channel info
Check out the buzz E2 Really good box for the money

I appreciate your reply. My local dealer does not carry the Buzz E2 but has the Buzz XR 4000, will this model work the same in terms of customizing the user interface?

As all others have mentioned, the buzz will do exactly as you want. Once you add even a single channel to your favorites, it creates a favorites category which has ONLY the channels you have flagged as favorites. It is great.

All the buzz boxes are great. Once you try one, it is hard to go back to anything else. The E2 is one of the newer ones, but the 4000 is more than capable also.

The E2 has the newer S905X3 CPU, vs the xr4000 which has the S905X2. But other than that, they both run buzztv4 application, same amount of memory and storage, and interface is pretty much the same. Older relative will not notice much of a difference really.

Rumour also has it that all 4000 series boxes and the E2 will also be update to BuzzTV 5 app eventually. Right now, only the 4900 runs buzztv5 as far as I know.

If you want an E2 however, you can also order directly from buzz itself.
