Strange StbEmu issue

I have a super strange issue hopefully, someone can help.
I have 2 Nvidia Shields. One is the tube and the other is the 2019 pro. All of a sudden StbEmu just stopped working on both of them. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled it. After installing it, it opens the first time with no problem. Once I close the app and open it again it's just a gray screen for 1 second and it goes back to the Shield home screen.
It just started happening today on both Shields. I even tried the OK2STB.apk (I use MAC) the exact same thing happens, it opens once and then never again.

Does anyone have any ideas?

It's the latest version and I have tried the free one and the paid one.

So it turns out that TiviMate now does MAC addresses so I got them working. I still want to get to the bottom of why StbEmu is doing that tho.

Did you check permissions on the shield and storage allowed.

That's funny. Someone I know with a Mi Box S is having the same problem. I have the same box and its working fine. I stick to STB Emu version 1.19.

*edit* They are also using version 1.19. Strange.

When you say it opens once, but never again.
When you open it the first time, do you actually go ahead and configure a portal, or do you just exit, and then try to start it again?

Try opening it, and NOT configuring a portal, then exit and try to get in again. Just want to see if it is the program at fault or some return response from a portal it doesn't like.

I know GSATV mentioned OK2 above, and the reason he did was because there was a portal change.
So apps like OK2STB.apk which have the old portal hardcoded, will no longer work.

The issue is not specific to OK2. The person that mentioned the same issue to me was using a different server. Stb Emu would open for a split second and close. I had the person clear the app data and reconfigure from scratch and it has been fine since.

Iv tried the free, paid, and OK2STB.apk versions. With all 3 I tried configuring and just opening/closing them. When I configure it and just reload the portal it works. In every case the same thing happened once I closed and then reopened the app, for a split second it's a grey screen and then back to the home screen.

I've been using STBEmu pro latest vesion 1.2.9.2 all day yesterday and today on my Buzz xrs4900 (i order to test some friends and family accounts, due to new portal URL). I have not had any issues and I have cycled through a pile of different MAC addresses for testing.

Maybe try like zivaldo mentioned above (clear data) and then try to configure again. Just in case something is corrupt.

However you didn't answer one question (unless I misunderstood). If you do a clear data, or clean install, and then you open stbemu (but DON'T configure it), and then exit. If you try to open again, does it open properly, or does it close ?
I just want to see if it s just the program that is glitching on your device, or is it some feedback from a portal that it doesn't like.

Have you tried an older version of STBEmu ? Let me know if you don't have any older ones, I have piles of them archived back to 1.1.7 or so. PM me, and I can gladly send you the link to my google drive if you want to try older versions.

BTW: is the date and time properly synced on the shield ? Reason I ask, is because I have seen some apps freik out if they load EPG and your clock is too far out of whack.

In the past the only time I've really seen this issue is on old android boxes running below Android 5.1. They reach a point where they can no longer run current apps and crash instantly. I doubt anyone is using boxes that old today though.
