Mailman came a knocking at my door this afternoon with my new AZbox premium hd stb. Took about an hour to figure out remote and menu. I scanned tp on Intelsat 805 at 55.5w, picture quality out of this world.

Great to hear. Please make sure to keep the updates coming as to how you like it. Definitely interested as I will be needing a new receiver one of these days to go with the next BUD

Wifey doesn't know, told the boy to keep a lid on it. Knowing my wife, she won't notice as long as US food network is up.

She's only familiar with the nano2 and ipro2k+ remotes. I always keep alot of papers around the remotes, I'll just hide it. Heck, who am I kidding, I'm the boss.:noidea::stop::rolleyes:

Back to serious matters, hows the blindscan on it?? and the s2 tuner.. I hear that box has great components.. Just want to validate with a knowlwdgeable end user.. SD pic comparison with your coolsat would be a good barometer on the tuner.. and video components..

I grew up here JCO but I don't do the doghouse thing or the couch. Thanks for the offer though.

The premium hd doesn't have a formal blind scan, the premium plus will have one eventually. It already has tp enbedded and I just add the rest while scanning with my pansat. Picture quality kicks all other stb I've ever tested. As for other components, give me a few days and I'll report back.

As much as I really liked the azbox premium hd stb, it still lacked an fta blind scan. I decided to sell it to my neighbour and pick up the azbox ultra hd. It came today and the picture quality is to die for.
I did a cold blind scan of Galaxy 16 at 99w and all channels I have ever scanned came in including s-2 8psk, 4:2:0 and 4:2:2. I am so pleased with its blind scan that I have decided to make the ultra hd my main stb with my bud.:yeaah:

Awesome!

Say from my understanding, is there any front LCD or display?

I was looking at that unit but I thought I read on Ricks that there was no display

The unit is awesome Gold. It scans everything in. You are correct, there is no front display just a couple of lights and the usual buttons. I can also access you tube and I can use it as a browser as well.:yeaah:

Congrats - So how you liking it for FTA HDTV? Is it at least 1080i?

Do you think I should get a newer LNB or would standard BUD LNB's that i've used for 4DTV work for the FTA HDTV on that Azbox?

Standard lnbf would be more then suitable. The ultra is awesome, it scans eveything in except its blind scan is a bit slow. Personally, I prefer the speed of a coolsat 6000 but it won't scan all tp in a blind scan, The ultra scans everything in.
