Although I have fixed whatever was ailing my T5 for the last few days, Thank you auggie!, I am finally ready to move on to something else. Reason: Just can't get rid of the constant drop out in video and audio and it has become very annoying.

What do you guys recommend to replace this receiver with? I am not looking to go iptv just yet but I am interested in what you might say. I hate watching with the distraction.

Thank you for your input.

I like My SV8000HD, but you will need a dongle to use with it and no wifi.
Did you try all of the suggestions I said on Hookup for your T5 (new HDMI Cable, component/rca, etc.)
The DL-T5 is a Good Rec. all-in-all.

I have tried your suggestions but nothing is working. Honestly, I am ready to move on from this thing, somehow it seems to be getting worse. Very annoying especially watching a game or a movie.

You do realize, if/when you move to a different Rec/box, it most likely will be a Whole New learning curve
and you may end up with more frustration than what you have now ?? Nothing is Bullet Proof, with
This "HOBBY," could all END at any time.

I guess you are right about that. This a constant annoying problem that doesn't seem to be resolved. Better the devil you know I guess.

Did you do a factory reset? or maybe you need to reinstall the latest file again.

John,

Read post 5 in your other thread:

https://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?209247-Is-it-the-module

and follow my link,

Do the cooling mod or at very least remove the covers from the factory tuner, also make sure the heat sink block is on top of the 8PSK. Bet your problem goes away.

I had a bunch of friends complain so I fixed them all this way.

I understand that will happen in the future. When IPTV streams like what I get from the sat signal, I will switch. I have seen iptv at friends' houses and I am not impressed, not yet anyway.

Keep them cool with supplemental cooling & keep an eye on the power supply & they work well.pvr function works too.

Interesting thread. I thought the video-audio drop outs was due to some kind of HDCP (copyright protection) code embedded in (premium) programming. For a while, I used an inline HDMI audio extractor that would passthrough the HDMI signal and this annoyance was gone. Now it's back no matter what I put between the STB, the Yamaha receiver and the Samsung TV.

And yes my T5 is cooled by a rather large fan sitting behind it.

try hooking it up with component setup, either or TV, Receiver, STB, may have a bad/loose HDMI connection.

Thank you auggie, I hadn't considered hooking to component as the Yamaha certainly still has a few (this option is on its way out!). Hopefully the picture doesn't turn too green. My T5s replaced two ailing SW8000 and certainly are good investments worth keeping.

IMO the SV8000HD is "still" One of the best FTA receivers ever MADE
if you have Two that are ailing, they are worth repairing, better than new.
There was a fellow on Ebay that offered repairs for them, not sure if he is still around ??
He does GOOD work, and fast turn-around.

You're refering to "danmarco"@ ebay.He is no longer at it as far as I know.He was very good with 8psks, power supplies, ect.
I also agree with using/repairing the 8000's: I still have one out there 11 years old & still going strong on North.

Yes you are correct Sir. Noof, "danmarco" had 2 of mine done by him, running strong ever since

I just bought a dreamlink t5 and my jyxnbox is similar if not better when i go from a sd channel to hd channel on dreamlink i have to go into sat dish settings and back out to get signal to come in and visa versa.dont have to do that on jyxnbox plus the jyxnbox was half the price

That is NOT normal behavior for a T4 or a T5.I can't say how many I have out there, but all of them using legacy/sw21 combos and ALL switch sd/hd seamlessly. Are you using a legacy setup or DP?
