Spring is coming, the yard will be flooding....

I want to buy a gas powered water pump to drain my yard.

I have a 150' of 1.5" fire hose for the discharge. It seems Princess Auto no longer...

There should be no problems with reducing the output size from the pump, the pressure should be OK as it will go up,(you will gain about 8 Psi) and your output hose can handle it, but as you stated the volume of water pumped will drop.

Hose pressure won't change anyways....only pump pressure before the reducer.

Any risk to life of the pump?

Should not have a problem unless it puts a more of a load on the engine if it does a governor adjustment will fix that.

Well, I went out and bought one of the pumps. On sale for $199 so I'll give it a try when the spring flood comes.

Just reading the manual. it specifically says "Do not use a hose with an inside...

I was talking about the internal pump casing pressure.
And if you not pumping the water uphill or up and over anything then you don't have to worry too much about head elevation.

Now if only I could find a 2" female to 1.5" male threaded coupling.

Can't seem to locate one in ABS or anything else. I can do it by piecing together a few fittings but the cost goes up. :bawl:

You might look for a 2" to 1-1/2" threaded reducing bushing, then thread a 1 1/2" inch pipe nipple into it, I don't think they make a standard PVC part the reduces down like you want.

Found what I need on Amazon but too expensive. I guess I'll have to get creative with cheaper fittings.

Never use PVC on a gas powered pump, it will crack, you need to metal, JMHO.

Maybe Princess auto can help with the fittings?

They have a lot of cam-lock couplers for water pumps but not a threaded reducer like I need. I live out of town so next time I'm in the city I'll go to Lowes. They should have something that I can put together.
