I had a post removed from "Just for Laughs" and it pisses me off. I try to use some discretion when I post and believe me that I could post a lot of stuff that would not pass the smell test and so I refrain. This post contained a profane word which by rules is not allowed but there has to be some leeway. This was posted in just for laughs and should be taken in that context and not in a profane way. If the powers to be want to run this like a Bible Camp that is their prerogative but I'm not sure I want to be part of this. I e-mailed this same joke to my friends on my e-mail list and on this list is 4 ladies. One is my sister-in-law and another was my daughter. Not for one minute did I think that this would be offensive to them, or would they find it offensive.

I guess the staff here thinks children would see it.lol

Once staff realize 10 year olds are not likely here, they may relax this rule.......don't hold your breath on a quick reform from an old guard.

I sort of recall seeing your post that had that "bad word" and I thought it was rare as I never see any "bad words". But I am not offended and all of us watching our TV hear all the bad words daily on that medium so it seems strange to me that the powers on this site would censor and delete your post.

And thanks for all the funny jokes and pics.

I see your point bro:that type of censorship makes no sense when they allow the pics of women that they do.Why images but not words.
The powers that be could have a reasonable adult section for humor for the ones that like it.That way you KNOWINGLY go to the forum to read/see.They could also get rid of the never used sub-forums to make room. There's plenty of room when that's done.

The threads that show the women were removed from the site when they exposed too much It was agreed that there would be no full nudity Swearing is also enforced by staff when its noticed
The reason has nothing to do with being prim and proper and everything to do with site revenue. This site depends on google ads to survive. That is why

There are 30 or more sub-forums that haven't seen new posts in a year or more...one of them never.

Perhaps I should have been more precise:it doesn't have to be pornographic in nature:just a safe place for some of the members to express themselves

Google wouldn't differentiate where it was in the forum
As stated it's not just porn

In support of JDI ,, for all he does and the time he takes from his personal time and day (unremunerated)
to post for all to enjoy ,, he should of at least been (respectfully) notified by PM that the
post was non conforming .. and given the opportunity to correct it himself by whatever
consensus

Deleting a post without the aforementioned is child like discipline and insulting to an adult
who works freely for the benefit of the site and its members

I doubt it...

It was a loaded question.

Google no issue with advertising at a website that condones/supports illegal theft of satellite signal, but won't advertise at a forum that has mild profanity?

I would say that staff goes way and beyond overlooking and letting somethings go...way beyond. As to what gets removed that is plainly stated in the rules so that is not open for debate end of story. So no one is owed an explanation.

While we are in the whine section I'll say this. Those that talk smack about what others post may need to take a look at some of the stupid stuff they post them self's. This is not directed at one in particular but in general. Guess one could say that some talk smack and tell half truths on subjects they are not involved in and know nothing about. Long short I have yet to find an expert. Although I have found some that think the know everything. Some know more than others and some have forgotten more than some will ever know. One has control over their own keyboard and or actions. Don't like what someone posts and it has nothing to do with you then don't respond.

The second part is just my own opinion basically so I could give a flying flip if some don't agree with it. Others seem to post their opinions as off the wall as they maybe so I thought I would post mine.

My answer was loaded too.so now you are the judge of what is mild profanity?
The rules were here from the beginning and now they are an issue??
Without the google ads there is no site.Is that what you want??

Sorry to post in a closed thread but forgive me. I've been a member here since the beginning when Talk closed up shop from 2007. These were pretty much the same rules we had there with a few exceptions. Like NBS said we need the revenue or we wouldn't be one of the last remaining sites around. You do a good job jdi but let's not cross that rule line please. It is very clear on your type of post that I deleted. It WAS against the site rules and we all need to abide by them. That being said ; if you check the "cheerleader " section you will see a lot of deleted posts there as they showed too much...same rules. JMHO.
