New T5 Dreamlink remote not working with receiver

Hi All I am helping my friend set up her new T5 we got the receiver all hooked up and the first screen that comes on is the language menu and I have pushed ok nothing I pushed 1 for English nothing.
What I find odd is when I push any buttons the STB light flashes like crazy so does this remote have to be matched with receiver somehow?
No manual came with box so I am winging it as I have set many different types up and never had this problem I am wondering if remote is no good or I am missing something.
I have powered the box on and off several times and still it does not respond to remote !
Any ideas??

Okay I have just gone from page one all the way back and can't find any info on my problem but one thing I would suggest is when posting because you are having a prob please don't just put the subject line Dreamlink T5 Or New Dreamlink T5 put what the problem is I looked at so many posts that started with Deamlink T5 and had nothing to do with what I was looking for and had that been added to subject line in the first place I wouldn't even have bothered with looking at it.
Just an idea saves a lot of searching for the person looking for help to narrow it down to why you are posting we are in Dreamlink T5 section so we know you have a Dreamlink T5 post what the prob is please!!!

Try programming it as though you were trying to program the tv, except instead of pressing tv you press stb

That's the problem I can't do any of the above my remote does not work with receiver I can't even move the line for the different languages nothing moves or reacts to the remote. I just looked at the pics of her package on ebay and her remote is different than the remotes that were suppose to come with it.
If anyone knows the code for the receiver and what buttons to push to program it I will try that. I tried for past 4 hours just trying to select language lol it just wont work with it
Also I know remote is good and works because i can turn her TV on and off with it

I can't load files Kid I can't even get off the first screen that comes up when you boot it up. The very first screen to setup receiver is choose language and it won't even do that nothing it won't even go up and down thru the different languages just sits on English and I hit okay or number 1 and it doesn't do anything I really think remote needs to be programmed for receiver and I have no idea what the code woud be or what buttons to push lol

I was just trying to do what you said to try and it just doesn't seem to make a difference I'm gonna try it a few more times and see if something miraculous happens lol cause I am ready to give this box the heave ho right out the door lmao!!

Okay I tried several different ways and most of time first time I push up or try the channel switch STB light just goes out but here is something funny. While I was trying to do that she has her Jynxbox on other TV and it was changing her channels so I think it had to have been programmed for another receiver
Just so you know it won't even turn power off and on on receiver I have to use back switch to do power it on and off

I have seen 2 different t5 remotes and neither look like that.

Seems like that may be the problem.

Yup I also think there is a problem she talked to the guy and he is sending a new remote.

I tried this w my t5 (flat rectangle remote)and Samsung 2012 plasma first try couldn't get it but second try got it to work,
First turn on your tv, press and hole tv option and ok button at the same time until tv button stay lit then press the up channel arrow until your tv turns off do this slowly, after tv turn off press ok button...finally the tv button will blink 3 times and your remote is ready to use with your tv.

My T5 remote sometimes get stuck on 9 (even if i take it apart, clean everything, the circuit board itself seems to be stuck on 9).. then I leave it for a half day, come back and it's working fine..

Are these flakey remotes? My remote is like the picture on page 1 of this thread.

An old coolest remote should work. If not they t5 remote cost about 12 bucx on amazon.
