Having problems setting up Sg2100... here's where I am todate
Everything is new...third FTA reciever...first motor
Trying to get FTA to work with factory flash, I can p/u and scan 91 and get 68 strength and 99 quality. Can't seem to p/u any other satellites..I have the correct setting for linear or circular when trying different satellites. Also checked lyngsat for a good transponder number...NO LUCK alway 58 strength and 0 quality. I've tried 97 , 110 and 119. I've been jogging motor X4 .
Any advice greatly appreciated..
Read through this section, you eill find out how to set up the motor and dish, first step is to find your true south satelitte.. And that varies depending on your location..:yes:

Theres a nice down and dirty thread also on a motorized setup..

Well first things first you say you have BEV 91 W coming in are you getting a picture and sound OK if so we will leave the receiver alone for now and move on to the dish/motor set up. 1st thing to do is make sure your mast is PREFECTLY level and plumb before putting the motor or dish on it. Have you used the web site dishpointer.com to get you longitude and lattitue as well as your elevations this has to be your starting point also you must make sure you set up your most southerly satelitte first mine was BEV 82W then using the USALS mode if all the set up is OK the rest of the sats will come in

Here is another way , and I found this to be the easiest way to point a motorize dish , b4 you set up the motor to the dish , first hook it up to your receiver , then select a sat like BEV / DN , ( 110 / 91 ) It moves the motor to that angle , then remove Motor from receiver , now attach the dish to the motor and mount it on the pole , you must know your ( lat + long ) now manually move the dish to look for that sat that the motor was position for , remember you did move it with the receiver b4 you mount ( 110 / 91 ) . When you find your signal you should see a pic from that sat. Now to fine tune , find the strongest signal moving from left to right , dont mind if the signal is low , just find the strongest point ( example , 40% is the strongest ) tighten all bolts for that , now loosen the up and down bolts and tilt dish up or down , you will now see the % go higher ( example 79 to 99% ) now tighten all bolts , and you are finish , the reset of the dish to zero will now find true south , but that is done from the receiver ,
Before you do anything else you must now go to your menu , and set up your latitude , and longitude , now for multiple satellite , just add a linear lnb to the left of the DN lnb attach both lnb's to a diseqc switch ( fta spliter only ) now out from switch to lnb input on motor .
remember which lnb is at which input as you now have to add this info to your receiver , if you dont know your lat / long , they are a few site with sat calculators , where you input your city and it convert the location for you ( the gta / toronto is 79.3 W + 43.6 N ) , now the center eye on the dish is your main eye so no tweeking is required . some receivers require you to add a location # for each satillite such as pansat receivers. Coolsat and Captive Works automatically set that info.
move you dish do the desire sats ( DN / BEV ) and save the info , so that the receiver have it in memory , now for the other eye , just select the sat , wait , then you have to manually move the dish using your remote from the receiver , by moving west / east until you find that sat , ( count your movements as it become your magic # for the rest of sats ) for instant if you count the amount of times that you hit the move button , and found a sat . that number becomes your magic number for all the rest , some might be one more / one less for stronger signal , I found that when you do move to the magic # and no signal show up don't panic , chances it is on a transponder that has no signal , just do a blind scan and you will see it catch live transponders, so now you know how this is done , Have fun
, I'll suggest looking on Lynsat for Satellite info as many of the satellites dont broadcast anything or the encryption is very different , some dont have much to see . ,

Ok...still struggling.....
Made sure mast is 100 % level...fine tuned all other adjustments so the best i have on 91 is Strenth is 69 and quality is 99/100. The motor is at @ 4 degree East.
Questions;
1) What transponder should I be using to find 110, I am located in Eastern Ontario Canada.
2) approximately how many steps would I expect to make to the west to see 110 ?
3) What would I expect my motor Degree to be ?
Thanks
