Can you run a Dishpro plus feed to a port on a DISEQC Switch? Is there a risk of blowing the DISEQC Switch?Perhaps there would also be to much switching going on.

You can't, the Dish pro plus has it's own internal Diseqc switch, (on a two or three satellite LNB) the two will get hopelessly confused.

Thanks, that is what I thought.I guess I will have to continually go in the Basement and switch it manually.

I'm using a dpp quad through diseqc. I have 2 lines from dpp to ports 1 and 2 of diseqc, for Bell 91 and 82. Had to edit tp's for Bell to get all channels, but it does work.

There are two types of DP Quad LNB's, the older one with 4 outputs is not a DP Plus, but an older Dish legacy LNB, it still has an internal switch, if you have a true newer style DPP Quad with two outputs and a third port for an input from a second DP single LNB (only has 3 "F" connectors on it) then you have a true DPP Quad, but it still has an internal Diseqc switch, you using the Diseqc ports #1 and #2 and assigning them as Diseqc port #1 and #2 on the external switch will not cause problems.

However it sounds like Blazerbong wants to add it to an existing system, it will only work if all Diseqc ports on the external switch will be assigned the same exact way as the internal switch, this may affect other types of LNB's on other ports of the external switch.

The only way around this is to use a single satellite DPP dual output LNB on each satellite, (one LNB with two outputs) then Diseqc ports can be assigned the way you want, and you can even go with a 8x1 or an 8x2 switch.

Blazerbong, try using a 22 KHz switch between the two setups, use 22 KHz off for the DPP LNB and 22 KHz on for the others, it may work.

One question, what are the other type(s)/ brands of LNB's in the system???

I am using a Dishpro Plus Quad with four outputs.Three are being used for Sub Receivers and one was spare. So I can't use two feeds like fn59 did unless I got a Dishpro 44 switch but even then it might not work.
The dish I am using for south has the DISEQC switch with two seperate LNB'S.I could replace the two seperate LNB's for a Dishpro LNB.Then I would have two seperate Dishpro outputs(one for South and one for North) but I don't believe that would help any for the DISEQC Switch.

OK, because your using OEM subbed receivers then that complicates everything.

If you want this for IKS or other type of FTA receiver you will have to setup two different setups, one for the subbed stuff and one for the others, tying to mix the two will cause switching problems.

Leave the setup for the subbed receivers alone, then setup a second dish for the FTA receivers for the North, use two DP single LNB's on this dish, then for the South a third dish for those satellites, (2, 3 or 4 birds??) you can then use a multi switch (4 to 6 inputs to XX outputs) for these feeds and run them as a separate system.

Trying to run Subbed receivers and other types of receivers off one setup can be a hair pulling experience, it could be done with the right stuff but you would be better off with two setups.

Also any switch used will have to be an externally powered one, trying to run 3 or more LNB's off a FTA receiver will cause power problems.

Thanks for your answers.Sometimes there is no easy solution.

I will just let go IKS on North since I have a sub also.Hopefully South will be more stable. If not will look into IPTV if South starts dying off.
