My cousins cousin has gotten rid of his Linkbox 9000I (junk) and replaced with a new Dreamlink T5.His set up has 3 dishes 82/91 110/119 and 129 using emp switches and ab switches,he scanned the channels and all seemed well till he tried to populate the epg on 82/91 (no epg channel found) he tried rescanning manually automatically and by pid, seems the transponder has q and s till you try to scan then no signal and of course no scan of that transponder,he never had this issue with previous receivers, any thoughts?

Well, it sort of sounds like the same issue in
http://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?201019-82-degrees

My best guess at this time is that the settings of the tuner chip are not right--maybe an FEC setting is not allowed where it should be.

I've been looking at the Dreamlink files lately (http://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?201244-Dreamlink-HD-T5) and reading a bit in the dreamlink discussions area and the models seem to have lots of small issues. Sadly, although I can see someone has some sort of clone files mods for T6, as far as I can tell the coders have encrypted everything that you can think of (8 byte key and two 256 byte tables are used in a complex XOR scheme for the channel list and network settings (I've been playing)). With the channel list encrypted you can't go in and edit the dump from the box. And I haven't seen any post of a channel editor.

Thanks jvvh,I guessing he is not the only one with this issue, anyone else with a t5 able to scan that tp?

He has another thread going in the DL T5 section. The advice there is what I would have given him today too--try scan with box going direct to LNB. I'm thinking the motor issue in that other DL T5 thread linked above might be due to too heavy of a load on the LNB output (not unlike the Jynxbox limited power out issue).

Just in case someone is interested-- the only diff between the T5 and T4 Make2Dream file is the 8 byte key byte-order. I've played with the byte order to see if the channel list might be generated with the same set of 8 bytes, but I'm about 95% sure that they use a diff set of bytes in part or in whole. But odds are the same basic encryption method.

I contacted the dealer the T5 came from, and this makes sense...

If you are getting any channels the dreamlink is not defective.

> That does not mean the switch is defective. It is just incompatible.

we are using the EMP Centauri

Ah! It seems the EMP Centauri use something called "Unicable" switching rather than being diseqc compatable. I can see how that might be an issue.

So the dealer was right, the EMP was incompatible with the T5, good to know.

Any chance the dealer knows how to edit channel lists? There is a thread in the T5 section where someone wants to do that, and I really do not want to have to play with the encryption on the channel lists.
