maybe the dish needs to be tweaked a little bit

When this happens what is the "Q" reading on that channel??

The "Q" reading is the quality of the signal after it's decoded at the receiver, many things can affect this reading, as Marcel said the dish it's self may need to be tweaked for a better "Q", if the "Q" falls below 60% then your signal at the dish has a problem.

The "Q" reading is derived from what is called the "Bit Error Rate" this is calculated from how much "Forward Error Correction" is needed to replace the missing data in the down coming digital signal from the satellite.

The the higher the BER and the more FEC applied to the signal to correct it the lower the "Q" reading, only so much missing data can be replaced before you get a odd colored "Pixel" in the picture.

I'd go further but I have run out of coffee.

Could it be a wonky LNB also ?

Or something getting in between the dish and the satellite line-of-sight--maybe a plane, bird, tree branch. I've even heard of intermittent issues from dishes near an elevated highway, the cars were not high enough to get in the path, but the metal reflected signal at times and caused problems.

thats good i found it odd that one box did it then i put the other box on that tv and it did it but didn't seem as bad thats why i thought it was a bad board this is alot better i can deal with the signal issue by tweaking the dish i'm sure i can get it better.
the lnb seems to be fine on everything else by the way auggie so i'm going to start with fine tuning the dish.
thanks alot guys

Don't forget weather related signal drop too!

Some boxes handle low signal conditions better than others. My openbox s16 does really well with low signals. It is often the case that newer boxes do a better job (not always though--look at the issue with 82 degree sat and one TP in particular--that seems to be a prob with newer chips more than old).
