thinking of getting a windows based htpc, my question is would a windows media center center remote control work for kodi on the htpc?

Good question...but I'm not sure.What I do is make the computers turn on with the keyboard.Most bios supports this now,& I find works great.

I have a logitch wireless keyboard I can use on it but was thinking of getting a remote with a usb plugin ir senser for it too

No reason why it shouldn't work.A matter of preference I guess.

Windows Media Center remotes work great on Kodi. I have HP HTPCs. If you have an Android phone or tablet, install an app called yatse on your phone. It turns your phone into a kodi remote control. It works even better than a windows remote.
