View Full Version : Plex on XBMC??
Does anyone know if the Plex addon will work with a free Plex account or do you need a paid Plex account?

It will work

Thanks c8r
I have Kodi on an Avov box (version 16.1) and installed the Plex addon from the Kodi repository.
When I start Plex it gives me the code to link to my Plex account - but when I sign on to my Plex account from my computer and then enter the link code - I get the error message on my Avov that Plex is only available to Plex Pass Subscribers.
When I googled it - it said you can pay a one time $4.99 unlock fee to use on an Android device but I don't see that option anywhere to purchase this unlock fee.
I don't have a lot of content on my Plex server - I just wanted to try it out and play with it using Kodi - so I guess I can just pay the $6.99 for a 1 month Plex Pass.

Why would you want to use it when everything it (Plex) does is already available in Kodi? ...and you don't have to have a separate server running. I un-installed it from my setup. When I was using it you didn't have to pay a fee, maybe they changed that.

Thanks c8r - I have a friend that was using Plex for a while and he says he has a ton of movies on his server. He recently added an Avov to his toys and was hoping to use it to access his Plex server. He is new to Kodi so I was just trying to help him out.
I played with it for a bit and thought it would be a good option for people that wanted to watch good HD movies but they have a slow internet connection. Their friends could copy a bunch of movies onto a flash drive and they could load it to their hard drive and access them through their LAN using Plex.

try this link out jedi..... hxxps://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/203868088-Unlocking-or-Activating-Plex-for-Android
Thanks Kenell1
I think that unlock feature would be available if I downloaded the Plex app from either Google Play or the Amazon App Store - but on my Avov I just installed the app from the Kodi repo.
After installing the app I get a popup with a 4 digit code saying to go to plex.tv/activate - when I go to my computer and enter that URL and insert the code to activate the Avov I get a popup on my Avov saying that the app is only currently available for Plex Pass clients - but they are working on bringing it to everyone.

Unfortunately my good sir plex for Kodi is in beta and beta testers are forced to pay foe the Addon and it is not a one time fee unless you buy the lifetime subscription. However if your box is running android as well or you have bluestacks then there is a way...hommies round here got it figured out if your desperate
Thanks Carl - I just wanted to play with a bit - so not desperate
