The screen blacks out for 1 second then comes back and then the sound comes back a second later. This continues to happen. Sometime it's a few minutes apart then 10 minutes. No real sequence. Coincidentally this started happening right after I hooked up my brand new LG TV. I switched to my IPTV box and it didn't do it. I also confirmed by hooking up my second T5 and no blacking out. The power to the box doesn't shut off so my thought it's the HD module overheating. The box is only a year and a half old and has had a cooling fan since the beginning. The second box is 3 years old and no issues. Any input would be appreciated.

I have the same issue with LG. Here is what I did to stop it. When the t5 is on with the correct input unplug the HDMI cable for 10 seconds and plug it back again. Use at your own risk.

The faulty box is now working. I switched the modules but that didn't work. I tried the so called faulty box with my other TV and it's working flawlessly. Makes no sense but I'm happy.

Interesting - I've also got the same setup - T5 on brand new LG tv.
Same issue with the 'micro freezing' on North only. Figured it was
a Server issue but can't complain - Provider is Rock Solid and the
micro freezing is fairly infrequent anyway.

I'm thinking that there could also be an issue with the HDMI cable too. Try a different one and see what happens

Yup i tried that, tried every hdmi port changed every setting i could find in the tv, turned off and on ultra hd settings, no change, doesnt do it on commercials the t5. Cant get the t6 to work at all, the start up screen shows briefly then goes black. Sorry for the highjack. Don't know what with the commercials strange.

Some processors and their HDMI inputs are very particular about what they get and when they get it--if you are not meeting those processor requirements then they will not process the digital stream.

jvvh5897 is RIGHT. The newer the technology, the more apt that the ports will be an issue.
freeloader: I had the exact same problem, only reverse of yours and a brand new TV. I have a 10 year old Sharp Aquos (swear by this TV and it's picture.............like the day it came out of the factory) and recently hooked up a DL T5 with HDMI. Same symptoms as you described. Problem was corrected by using the component cables (R,B & G) for the video feed. Pictures are perfect and stable now.
Hope this helps.

I don't think the "newer" tech is really the issue, it might be hardware or software dependent though. I have a cheap, new(er) TV that has no issue, but an older TV required me to unplug the HDMI cable and re-plug it if I set the TV to HDMI input before the FTA box was fully up and feeding the HDMI. The older TV would stay on black screen if I did not follow the right sequence. Once running it was OK, but seemed to require a handshake when the cable was first checked or it would never check again.

I had the same problem with my OLED LG tv used a top of line monster cable with gold conectors and worked fine after that
I've ran into similar issues like this and I was thinking maybe ground loop problems. Make sure to us ground blocks grounded at panel if possible.

I had an intermittent HDMI port on my tv so purchased a 4 input to 1 output HDMI Rocketfish switch from Best Buy for about 40$. When component is turned on it switches automatically or you can leave all components on and use the remote. Problem solved.

I bought a $90. monster hdmi cable made no difference still blacked out, switched over to component cables hasn't blacked out yet. The new LG OLED tv doesn't like the t5 hdmi for some reason. Haven't tried my t6 yet it woudn't work at all.

Either the HDMI connection on TV or receiver has gone bad or faulty, had same issue with T-4
when i wiggled the cable from the back of my TV, or receiver, the picture would correct itself
Some how there is not a SOLID connection, TV/REC. this also happened with SV8000 same thing
