Hi all, I got my hands on a Viewsat 9000 HD with modual but for some reason the S & Q signals both drop to about 50 when I hook it up causing pixelation on all channels. The strange thing is when I put my Nfusion or CNX in the same spot the S is 90 and Q about 65 and the picture is fine. The settings for the LNB are all correct, anyone know why this is happening with the Viewsat or how to fix it?

The Viewsat 9000 is an old type receiver, can you try it with the module un-installed (removed) and see what happens?

Yes it is old but it's a unused/new receiver. I could remove the module but with the module uninstalled the receiver is useless to me, I need it to work with the module otherwise it's just a door stop. I will do some more testing by removing each switch in the line and module and post back here.....thanks Terry.

Just try it without the module installed, I want to know if it's a bunk one or not.

If the "S" and "Q" come up on an open SD channel (119W ch 101) then the mod is bad.

Looks like you were on the right track Terry, when I go into the menus and turn the module off the S jumps up to 85, if I toggle it on and off a few times I can get both the S & Q back up to normal readings but when I turn the unit off they go back down again. I have a feeling the module is ok, it seems like it might be a lack of power issue or some kind of glitch in the software, I have been reading on the web alot of other people having the same problem but no solution to it yet..........

If this was a new in box unit then there should be nothing wrong with the internal power supply.

How many LNBs are you trying to run? (and what type)

If more then 2 then it could be an external DC power problem, can you try just one LNB directly to this receiver?

I thought of that as-well, I turned the power off on all the "standard" LNB's except one and still the same issue. Funny thing....when I go into the menu and turn the module off it turns itself back on again when I exit the menu, it seems you can't shut it off for some reason, that's what makes me think it's a software glitch of some kind.......

Well you should try a direct hook up, by passing any switches.

Something could be funny somewhere that the VS box does not like.

Any way you can remove the module from the receiver??

The VS is ok when the module is off, but like I say as soon as I exit the menus it turns itself back on again and the problem comes back. It's something to do with the module or software.

Sure, I could really test the module by swapping it into my nfusion but I will wait till I "have" to do that as the nfusion is running ok.
