Qualifying for Saturday night's Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET (FS1), has been delayed by threatening weather in the area.
The Sprint Cup cars were on pit road, preparing for the qualifying session, when thunder and lightning in the area forced NASCAR officials to have crew members push the cars back to their respective garage stalls.
Shortly after 7 p.m., it started raining lightly in the garage area.
All track activity has been put on hold.
National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Carbarrus County, where the track is located, until 7:45 p.m. ET.
