I just bought the following for $125.00. Direct 10' bud in very good condition. It comes with a Chaparral feedhorn (model unknown), 24" Von Weise actuator (looks good), pole & pole base, and a 4dtv receiver Mod. DSR-920. How you see this. I'm a new born on C Band and would need some help and instructions. Thanks in advance for your help.

I think that was a great deal. You need to find out what kind of feed you have though, very important. Keep posting in the bud discussions, there are many members here with the expertise and knowledge to answer your questions.

Thanks costactc. I have to dismount from one roof to take it to my home. I also pretend to use a Pansat 9200hd/8 psk board with it if its possible. Thanks again and i'll be around.

The Pansat is a great scanning stb with the dvb-s2 module. What type of lnbs do you have?

potroco

As of now none except the one (Chaparral, unknown model), that is installed to the dish. Nevertheless I'm pretty open to any suggestion for a real good performance. I'm in Puerto Rico and things needed for this project has to be ordered to mainland.

You should contact the mod Turbopirate, he's also from Puerto Rico and he is always helping somebody. I'm using an eagle aspen ku lnb and a chaparral c band.
When you remove the dish, have a look at the feed to see what you have and will take it from there.

Great. I'll check and let you know. I'll also try to contact Turbo to get some more help and advise. Remember "m a newborn in this band. Thanks

Hi risk. You are doing a great job. I have been reading all your post as well as all the recommendations costact, Turbo and other are providing. All of you inspire me to this project. Pretty sure you will succeed. I'm also taking the challenge. As soon as I'll be able to return to the place where the dish is, will take some photos to post and receive your comments and suggestions. Absolutely I'll follow them. Sorry for my english but I'm trying.

Hi all. Today I went back to verify the dish (mesh) and the actuator. The actuator is working pretty good. This weekend I'll be dismounting the dish to bring it home and start with the project.

Hi, this is what I got along with the GI DSR-920

Nice pics potroco, all looks in excellent condition. Your actuator looks exactly like mine. Good luck taking it apart, be careful the mesh rips easy. Post pics of your feed so we can see what you have or may need.

You got a great deal bud, it looks spotless. Now if you have a corotor to boot on your feed you'll really be laughing.

potroco

I'll chech where can I find one. Any suggestion for the corotor?

Costactc
03-31-2010, 09:03 PM
Considering your in Puerto Rico, you may already have it. Take off the nose that is covering your feed and post pictures and everything written on the lnb and feed.

Here are four pics of Lnh/Feed. Pleaas3, let me know your findings and suggestions. BTW the whole system was working this morning before I disconnected it.

I'm not sure about the corotor but your lnb is good and can be used in your setup. It doesn't look like you'll have to buy anything, but I'm not sure if it's wideband. Once you get it set up, a scan of a circular sat will probably answer that question.

sorry, meant to say polarotor.

Costactc
04-01-2010, 08:01 PM
If you do decide to keep as is, you'll need and old ird receiver for the servo motor to switch polarity, or an stb like a pansat 3500. If you go with an lnbf, polarity is switched in the coax. What stb do you have?

Hi, I have a 4dtv GI DSR920, beside this one a Pansat 9200hd, CW700, CW 800 and Pansat 2700. Please feel free to make any suggestion. Anyway If I have to change Lnb no problem. Thanks

i dont know about the others but i know your DSR920 will do the job. . .

Costactc

Your all set, you could use your pansat 2700 for servo or your 4dtv stb. You just need to install the bud and start tweaking.

Hi all, here is a pic the inside view of the feedhorn, seems to need some small cleaning but nothing significant. BTW the piece in the middle looks like a hook.

Hi again, it's my understanding that the feedhorn/lnb already presented is for cband only. Would the DMX 741 be a good choice to be able to get ku band also? Or is there another lnbf that can be attached to this feedhorn? Thanks in advance for your comments and or suggestions.

Costactc
04-05-2010, 06:32 PM
The DMX741 would be good for both c and ku band or the Geosat ck1.

Well, after a week at bed (sick) I'm back again. The bud is mounted in my roof, and tomorrow if it's not raining will start with the cabling to start testing it. Was not easy to install the bud in the roof (doing it alone) but anyway it was done. As things goes on I'll post the results. Thanks

Have you checked to make sure the DSR920 has not died?

Get the Unit number on the back. It starts with 000-031XX-XXXXX-XXX

then match it against the board number. To do this go to, Options, press 6, 5 then status. Look for that same number in the window. If it's there you may want to consider changing your battery ASAP

Instructions are found here: hXXp://www.pacificsites.com/~alanjudd/920.htm.

If it's not there, then it's like mine. Just a positioner. It's dead from programming.

These are very costly to repair.

Still even without the box you made a great find!!!
Paying someone something for the dish is not such a bad thing. It makes for a good neighbor. On the dishes I collect I always offer something. My last one was a Unimesh 10' I paid $35 for it & the dead DSR...I really didn't even want it, cause I have 2 10' & a 7.5' but it did come with one :laughat: bullet hole so I took it :tehe: Really it did. I found it when I unloaded it

Yesssssssss. This is tentative. Spent the whole day playng with my bud and guess what, is working pretty good. I' using a Vbox6 and a CW800 (remember is tentative) just to understand how the system works. 20 sats installed. Next step will be the replacement of the CW800 with a Pansat 9200hd. What you think? Suggestions, critics or comments are welcome. Thanks

Why do you want a Pansat 9200. Do you already have the unit?

Yes, I was using the Pansat 9200hd with Galaxy 25 and Hispasat. I want to try some with the 8psk/dvb-s2. I'm not sure but I think it will work since it has the 8psk board installed.

You bet it will work great.
I thought you may be looking to purchase a new receiver & was going to mention one capable of decoding 4:2:2. As far as S2 goes I have heard that the 9200 does a terrific job.

Costactc

Gotta agree with you Gold. I've been told the 9200 is an awesome scanning unit, unfortunately will not do 4:2:0 or 4:2:2, that's why I opted for the azbox premium hd.

I just start to verify Tp's sat by sat (what i have in the Pansat and lyngsat) to start clean with the 9200hd.

You probably just need a couple from each sat, & blind scan the rest in.

After that if any don't come in that you know are free then just add them manually...It will save you a lot of time.

Hi all. Here is the first problem. When try with the 9200hd and try to scan a tp with DVB-S2 8psk Mpeg4 channel nothing happens. The I open the box and notice that the 8PSK board was in two parts and disconnected from each one like in pic 250 attached. Pics 248 and 249 shows the whole board. However when I put all together and turn on the 9200 it does not work. Can anyone recognize the board and provide some instructions on how ti install properly? Thanks again for hour help.

I did it the way shown in the video. However the receiver hangs and do not respond to anything (remote or panel buttons). If I disconnect the board the receiver works just fine. Probably is the board. What you think?

This is only a guess, so wait until others chime in...But I would say bad 8PSK board

I think so. I'll check which board model works with the 9200hd without problem. Thanks
