These instructions will help you use Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer to download the VLC player and access the current BYU IPTV channel listing through the VLC player on your computer.Note: IPTV will only stream content over a wired internet connection.
These instructions will help you use Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer to download the VLC player and access the current BYU IPTV channel listing through the VLC player on your computer.

Quick Overview:
Navigate to
www.videolan.org and download the appropriate VLC version for your computer
In the VLC player on your PC select Tools > Preferences. Under Show Settings in the bottom left corner, change Show settings to All.
Select Playlist from the list on the left side of the window, and enter the following address into the Default Stream box: hxxp://iptv.byu.edu/player/downloadPlaylist.htm
Save. Close. Reopen the VLC media player and the playlist will now be available under View > Playlist

Download VLC Player Using a Chrome Internet Browser
Paste the following URL into your Chrome Browser
http://www.videolan.org.
Select the Download VLC button. A window will pop up and ask you to choose where the folder will be installed on your computer. When you are satisfied with the location you have chosen, select Save.
Select the .exe (download) button in the bottom left corner of your internet window.
A popup will appear asking, “Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?” Select Yes.
Select your desired language, and select OK.
Select Next.
Select Next.
Select Next.
Select the default install location by selecting Install.
Wait for installation process to complete.
Select Finish.
If the VLC player does not automatically open, double-click on the new icon on your desktop.
Instructions for using Firefox and Internet Explorer are included at the end of these instructions.
Download Current BYU IPTV Channel Lineup
Open VLC media player on your PC. Select Tools > Preferences.

Select Playlist from the list on the left-hand side of the popup window.

Note: If the Default Stream box is too small to show the entire address at once select the box and use your left and right arrows, you will be able to see the rest of the text in the box.

Click Save and close the VLC media player. Reopen the VLC media player and the playlist will now be available under View > Playlist.
Once the current BYU IPTV channel lineup has been added to your VLC player you can watch any channel by selecting View from the Menu bar at the top of the VLC player and then selecting Playlist from the dropdown.
Once your selected channel starts playing, you have the option of watching in full screen by selecting the button shown below. To exit full screen select the same button or press the Esc key on your

There will be an arrow pointing down in the upper right corner of your screen that you can select to access the downloaded file. Select the file. Then another popup will come up that asks “Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?” Select Yes.
Select your desired language and then select Ok.
Select Next.
Select Next.
Select Next.
Select the default install location by selecting Install.
Wait for installation process to complete.
Select Finish.
Select Continue.
