If I install the Network Driver and any drivers, do I have to go to Control Panel/System/Add & Program???? It seems driver or application cannot be double clicked. I have Dell computer and downloaded the Chipsets/Network Drivers from the website. Thanks

Some dell drivers after you extract them will go to a folder called Dell.click on my computer then C drive/programs then/dell then you will need to run them from there..Hope that helps a little or is what you were needing to know.

Generally Network drivers (LAN) which are downloaded from Dell are just a .exe file archive. Same as a .zip file.

When you run the .exe it will ask you for a path where to extract too.
Put in a path like c:\mynetwork. This way you can find it later.

Once the extraction is completed there generally is no installer that will run after words as it just extracted the driver files itself.

So now you need to go to device manager.(This is based off of a XP Box)
You can get there by right clicking the "My Computer" icon and go to properties.
Or by going to control panel and click on system icon.

The window that opens up; you will see a tab that says hardware. Click that and you will then see a button called Device manager. Click that.

Another window will open up which shows a list. Generally if the Lan card is not installed it will display with a yellow exclamation mark called Ethernet Adapter or something like that.

Double click the thing and click on Reinstall Driver
Next window to open up check on the (Advanced) option and hit next.
Next window, Un-check Search Removable media and select Include this location in the search: Click Browse and navigate to c:\mynetwork and any sub directories the extractor may of made. You will know that it found a driver when the OK button lights up so you can press it.

Hit ok and then select next on the previous window.
It will search and hopefully find the driver it is looking for.
