Any talk about a receiver or PCI card that Will get you the same PowerVu Channels for Free you get Labeled as a Rat.

i'm thinking of getting a bud and pci card. as i understand it, there are keys needed to open the channels. where do we get those from?

Since no one else has answered: this is the FTA only section! Keys means conditional access for encrypted channels--encrypted means NOT FTA only.
That being said, a year ago I would have advised you look into brute force decryption after logging packets from the channels you are interested in. But that time is long gone. Now you might look for a Pvu supporting player that might support the card you wish to use and has keys built in--odds are any you might find will be EU only keys. Lots of work was done to get keys for NA sats, but not a lot in the open. Even then the "keys" are likely to be the ecm keys and not box keys as the box keys are (or should be) never in the open because then the box they are for may well be removed from active list.

Also there are other things needed to run the BUD system, a PCI card does not have the linear motor controls needed to move the big dish, a "V" box is needed to interface between the receiver (PCI card) and the linear motor on the dish.

The linear motors on these big dishes use 24 to 32 volts DC at several amps to turn the dish, the "V" box goes in-between the receiver and the dishes "C" band LNB, you then setup the receiver to use DiSeqc 1.2 commands to turn the dish to the satellites.

Once you get setup with a C-band dish and can track the arc you will find plenty of FTA channels and many feeds. No keys required. Just a lot of work to get going but well worth it once you succeed. Many more free channels on C-band than Ku.

If you have an old c-band ird lying around, or come across one, they make a decent mover, too. I still have a 4dtv ird that I use to move dish. There are still channels on it that are itc, though most aren't mapped in or unsubscribe able now. With it and a decent dvb-s2 card and stb, it'll keep you busy for a while.

If you just want to watch the encrypted stuff on your PC, you just need a compatible dvb-s2 card/software and a vbox for dish positioning. There is just so much more than that though imo...

yea i just use the cheap vbox mover and a cheap dvbs2 compatible receiver the fun part was aiming the dish took me a week but it was well worth it, love finding feeds its like a rush to find something cool to watch, I used sprinkler cable for the mover which worked out because i couldnt find any tvro ribbon cable that was cheaply priced.

vbox + x2 premium hd + 8ft cband / 1.2m dish on hh120 gets me tons of FTA channels. If you like sports like I do then that's the way to go
