Timothy Bradley still big-game hunting By Andrea Hale 7 hours ago Boxing

Ever since his controversial victory over Manny Pacquiao in 2012, Timothy Bradley’s career has had a much different trajectory than what even he could have anticipated..

Despite significant victories over Ruslan Provodnikov and Juan Manuel Marquez, the boxing gods appeared to even things out when Bradley dropped a unanimous decision in a rematch with Pacquiao in 2014. What followed was an inexplicable split draw against Diego Chaves in December that reeked of judging incompetence (perhaps the boxing gods weren’t finished with Bradley yet?). Next was a unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Jessie Vargas to claim the WBO “interim” title in a fight in which Bradley’s light-hitting opponent nearly stopped him in a final round tha concluded with a controvercial sequence of eventst. There is no doubt Bradley (32-1-1, 12 KOs) has paid his dues over the course of his 11-year career and deserves big fights from here on out. It appeared Bradley was going to get his wish for his next fight against the always entertaining Brandon Rios, but the WBO has stepped in and named unbeaten, but relatively unknown, Sadam Ali as the mandatory challenger for Bradley’s title.
Although Bradley has enjoyed proving doubters wrong against stiff competition, the fighter from Palm Springs, Calif., says he feels he has earned the right to choose whom he faces next.
“From the options I was given, Brandon Rios was the one that makes the most sense,” Bradley told Yahoo Sports. “There are other names out there and bigger fights to be made, but they are all unavailable for whatever reason.”
As for Ali, despite his 22-0 record, it is evident to Bradley that his mandatory challenger doesn’t carry the kind of clout to earn a bout against him.
“Sadam Ali is a good undefeated prospect with a good win over Carlos Abregu,” Bradley said. “But, outside of that, he is relatively unknown. I have a couple years left so I want the biggest fights available to close out my career.”
One of the biggest fights that Bradley had his eye on was a showdown with Floyd Mayweather. Considering that Bradley had a victory over Pacquiao and Marquez, along with a pretty impressive résumé, in the back of his mind he thought the phone would ring with a Mayweather offer. That phone call never came, and Bradley will have to watch the undeserving Andre Berto take on the pound-for-pound king. Although Bradley has never had the opportunity to test himself against Mayweather, Bradley says he won’t cry over spilled milk and will move on with his career.
“Floyd gave the fans the fight that they wanted in his last fight,” Bradley says while shrugging off the notion that Mayweather has purposefully avoided him. “It wasn't the fight of the century, but it was a good boxing lesson. And if he believes he has earned this ride off into the sunset then that's what it is.”

Timothy Bradley even though he may not be a great puncher is a great fighter... He has "Mucho Corazon" (A lot of heart) and that heart is the one that has gotten him a lot of his victories... We must remember he never had anything to do with the Pacquiao decision It was the judges that decided that... He has been given the "cold shoulder" as all "Maffias" do when someone falls out of grace... Too bad as we could have seen some great battles if he would have given the opportunity...JMO..

Bradley, is a good fighter not a great one, below average punching power, average chin, good speed, good foot work, good ring general ship, but I felt he lost the pacquiao, he lost the Provodnikov (almost got Knockout) he would loose for sure against Mayweather.....Rios would be a favorable fight for him, slow fighter, not allot of movement, very predictable.
The one thing I like about Tim is he will come to fight, he will not run like Mayweather so he makes a good fight to watch.

Bradley takes some big punches cuz he himself cannot hit that hard. This will catch up
with him in the future. The head can only take so many blows. Sooner or later it says "no mas".
Rios has a punchers chance if Bradley is at this stage... If not, I like Bradley by decision.

Bradley is named into the list of top 10 P4P in the welterweight division because of his accomplishments. Although he does not have a prolific KO statistics, he makes up for this with his speed, his great footwork, and ability to "roll with the punch". Some may say that the Pat Russell's (referee) mistake saved him from a late KO loss but that is pure guesswork. Bradley has never been seriously put down on the canvass in all his fights. He has excellent work ethics. His wins against JM Marquez and R Provodnikov speaks a lot about his tenacity. Rios will have a hard time landing any significant blow with Bradley.

Yes, Ill put my money on Bradley by decision as long he does not seat there and trade shots with Rios like he did with Provodnikov for 12 rounds.

Sadam Ali is a "mandatory" challenger....but...you said it yourself: "Money talks, BS walks." Would Arum capitulate to the "sanctioning body"? I don't think so.

Jajaja You got me aqua, Ali would be a better contender, Rios is washed out.

...exactly the reason why neither Bradley nor Arum would consider Sadam Ali. Money-wise, it would be a lose/lose situation. Ali does not have much of a following (for PPV ratings) in spite of his excellent resume. Arum is as shrewd as always. Having both Bradley and Rios in his stable, he is keeping all the profits of the fight to himself. Why share this with Golden Boy...and risk Ali taking the title away from Bradley?
