My question is, if you buy a android TV box preloaded xbmc, can you delete broken addons that you can't configure or update

you should be able to delete broken addons no problem but why not buy a box with kodi on it and not worry about those things?
my guess it is an older unit and probably a single core processor. Dual core at the best and the better android units are all running quad core now

not necessarily. some boxes will not run Kodi properly. you might gt audio and no video in which case you have to turn hardware acceleration off. If that happens then you will notice the audio / video going out of sync

Kodi takes a little time to learn, but you are a lot better off paying the money for a decent box and loading the apps you want yourself.
You have a great forum here with people willing to help you out and get you going in the right direction.
Save your money and you might learn a thing or two.

I know this is a little older thread but since one of the major ones went down, I loaded fusion and now xMovies8 and haven't looked back. I will say I am running it on the firestick and it buffers sometimes, especially on the weekends a lot. I think maybe the stick doesn't have enough memory (1gig), but it is android.and I'm not a tech, so I don't know. Maybe the box (2gig) doesn't buffer as much. But hey, for $40 I'm not complaining :)
