Will I stop receiving pm's if I uncheck "Enable Private Messaging" general settings? I'm trying to stop my pm's from showing up in the Shoutbox, but I still want to send\receive pm's.

No need to be concerned, only you can see your own PM in the shoutbox. No one else will see them.

When i send a private message to someone that's what it should be... private. So why does it go to the useless shoutbox anyway???

did you not read post # 2

did you not read post # 2 As someone new and not knowing this even happens, you're reply is rather condescending to a valid question. The question could have been worded better, but regardless it's still a valid question and didn't deserve that kind of reply. This has sparked my curiosity as well as I personally have never seen or heard of this with any other forum. This is the first. So allow me to ask the same. Understanding that no one else sees it, for what purpose does it serve to appear in the shoutbox?

[b]now is that more to your liking Yondu.[b] Really? I was being respectful (being a NEW member and all) and this is my reward? Is this how I can expect replies to [u]any question[u] that I may have?

you can change your settings for this

settings top right of forum click it
then scroll to bottom left corner shoutbox
then shoutbox settings click it

hear you can change your settings preferences or completely disable shoutbox if you like

Or you can click "satFIX Shoutbox" (top middle of shout box), Select "Options", and uncheck "Enable Notifications".

Satfix uses vbshout which enables PM notifications by default. As stated above, nobody else can see you PM notifications.

Fixed your underline tag. Also, you need to have a little thicker skin.

Get over yourself Yondu and grow a thicker skin.. If this post is NOT to your liken.. we can fix that .. now stop with the new member bs and the bickering.. We have no time for that as any "rewards" here are "EARNED" not given.. Thanks for understanding...

Does anyone actually believe that sending PMs to the shoutbox is secure ?

on a completely unrelated topic why was Yondu banned ?

He only had 4 posts, but I can only find 3 ...

surely it wasn't for his participation in this thread ...

Not sure my guess is he must have said something that earned him a one way ticket to the pink side anyonomus is a pretty tolerant guy with these things ! I think Yondu was on some kind of mission here no new member joins a site and starts off with this kind of tone and remarks so i'm guessing what ever it was got deleted for a very good reason kutter.

you're probably right :)

just seemed a little strange ... I'm not much for the heavy handed approach when dealing with things of that nature ...

especially when the advice given is to "grow a thicker skin" ... to that response, I say lead by example :)

Like i said kutter anyonomus is a very tolerant mod we don't know what Yondu said in the deleted post and my guess is it was very bad or disrespectful violating a site rule likely flamming/bashing but regardless Yondu clearly was on a mission.

if you look at the post that was quoted and anyonomus's response to it, it just seems like the outcome was inevitable :)

it doesn't send the pm to the shoutbox, all it sends is a notification that you have a PM or that you sent a PM. It is basically the same as the pop up that you have a PM you see when you login when somebody sends you one.

Yondo was banned for posting a nice big **** *** picture. That post was moderated hence why you can't see it. As staff we won't be told off by someone that can't grasp how to correct something they aren't happy with especially after several people offered a solution. Now on that note this thread is closed.

so the answer to anyone reading this is.. your PMs notifications are not in the shoutbox for everyone to see, it's only there to remind YOU.
as others stated, you can turn it on or off in your own settings. do not panic or freak out.. it's just a notification addressed to YOU and not public.

and for the record.. I did not ban him.. One or more of the other admin had that privilege as he was on a mission to disrupt the site.. I am sure he/she will resurface under a "new" nic and start all over again.. Enjoy folks.. and have a great weekend.
