View Full Version : Solar Flare for Dn on the Dish?

I have dn sat 110,119 and bev 91 on one Dish. I am wondering if this could be a solar flare that is affecting those dn sats that have gone down to 20 percent from 97 percent. Bev 91 on the same dish is not being affected so it has nothing to do with alignment of the dish because I am getting 91 percent signal and quality for that sat. Please reply back to let me know what is happening or what can be done. Thanks in advance.

This could be anything from a diseq switch starting to malfunction to cables being broken down from weathering over time start by switching the working bell cables over and see if that works or try a new diseq switch 99% of the time it's the switch or cabels

no signal all of the sudden. No storms or high winds or excessive heat or cold

rescanning birds.

maybe a solar flare bounce back from space? LOL

Lost about 20% give or take myself...maybe something to do with those bad storms rolling through the middle part of the lower 48...seems worse on the 129. :noidea: I'm gona wait it out and see if it comes back to normal later on.

I checked the cables and they were tightened properly. It would be more than a coincidence that both diseqc switches for any ports used by dn sat 110 and 119 to have gone. I went out side and put the box on dish settings/auto or manual scan then re aligned the dish and was getting a red bar but more percent in signal and quality then moved it back and forth and upward and got a green bar with 92 percent signal and quality for sats 110 and 119. Bev 91 fell to 85-87 percent signal and quality so all it okay now. It must have been the weather and or winds that caused the out of alignment of the dish even though it is tightened very much now.

No solar flares this week, or today, so it's something with the providers.

Sun has been very quiet the last few months, it's getting unnerving, we should have been at a solar maximum, but things have been very quiet.

Maybe I need to check the thermostat???

Some still come in and read the last one or two posts and start typing before backing up to read the earlier posts in the thread to know what's been said.

Mine is about back to normal now so I would say it had something to do with those storms...from what I seen on tv they were pretty ugly...if memory serves me right this same thing happened before around this time of year and I think it was determined to have something to do with some nasty storms in the middle part of the country back then.

Oooo, what wild theories can we come up with? Hum, blame aliens? Maybe the military testing an anti-satellite cloud. The avengers in a fight with one of the Gods? Volcano dust?--I kind of like that one. Wait, wait---maybe there are no solar flairs because there is a higher neutrino flux from the sun that signals it is ready to blow a big mass ejection!

I get a rumbling in my gut just before a "big mass ejection", maybe it's my fault......I did sink the Titanic you know.... And buried Pompeii...And caused the second to last ice age....And OOooohh those poor Dinosaurs, if they only knew what I did....Sorry...One slip of the finger and crossed the wrong circuit, and Poooffff, there she went....Took the Dog with her.....I miss that Dog.

Isn't DN's uplink located in Colorado? If so it could have been weather related.
