Anna Kendrick is “excited” to be writing her first book.
The ‘Pitch Perfect’ actress is set to release a collection of autobiographical essays next year after inking a publishing deal with Touchstone, but doesn’t want people to have “high expectations.”
Announcing the news, the 29-year-old star joked: “I’m excited to publish my first book, and because I get uncomfortable when people have high expectations, I’d like to use this opportunity to showcase my ineptitude, pettiness, and the frequency with which I embarrass myself.
“And while many of my female inspirations who have become authors are incredibly well-educated and accomplished comedy writers, I’m very, very funny on Twitter, according to BuzzFeed and my mom, so I feel like this is a great idea. Quick question: are run-on sentences still frowned upon? Wait, is ending a sentence with a preposition still frowned upon? I mean, upon frowned? Dammit!”
The witty star has amassed almost four million followers on the social media site, but insists she isn’t “as cool” in real life.
She told the UK’s LOOK magazine: “I love Twitter, although I still don’t think I’m able to be as cool as people now expect me to be. I have an ironic sense of humor that doesn’t always play well when I’m doing talk shows or print interviews. But Twitter has given me the chance to acquaint people with my peculiar sense of humor, and now when they see me, they get me. At least I’m lucky that being a little nerdy is now almost a way of being perceived as cool.”
