Antonio Banderas almost cried when he met Taylor Swift.
The ‘Spongebob Square Pants: Sponge Out Of Water’ star was so shocked to find out the ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker, “with her long hair and long legs”, knew who he was that he nearly let out a tear when he came face to face with her.
Recalling their chance meeting, he told heat magazine: “Taylor Swift was singing on the stage and I was sitting down at one table, having dinner. And I had to go on stage to do a little speech, so she came down the stairs and saw me and said, ‘Oh, Antonio Banderas’ and I thought, ‘Wow, Taylor Swift knows me. That’s so cool.’
“Then she looks as me and she says, ‘My grandmother loves your movies,’ and I said, ‘Great, thank you, it was a pleasure meeting you too.’ And I almost got tears in my eyes.”
And it’s not just the 54-year-old actor who gets starstruck. The 25-year-old pop star fan-girled when she was told her songs were “catchy” by the legendary Madonna.
When reminded about the comments, Taylor squealed excitedly: “Stop, I will pass out! You can’t, don’t be lying. Oh my God, I’ve been so scared to meet her, because it means too much to me.
“When she first said something nice about me in the press a couple of weeks ago, I was like, ‘There’s no way it’s real, it’s too good to be real.”
