View Full Version : Card Share ?
Not sure If any one here still using older IRD on Card Share but have a setup Question, Have a DP301 with a Dish Pro 500. DP Plus LNB... I can only get one Sat at a time? 110 or 119 but not both? I have a SonicView hooked to same dish and works perfect. I have two cables coming from dish one for FTA other for CardShare, both work on FTA but when I hook them up to C.S. on one I get 110 and the other I get 119? Sounds like I need a splitter but thought a DP Plus does not need one???

did you do a check switch test?
yes all I get is option for "SuperDISH or Alternate ... try both and get "Warning only one Satellite connected"?

is firmware current?
yes I can watch channels on one satellite right now I have some channels on 119, if I switch to the other cable hooked to the dish I can watch channels on 110... but not at the same time? But I can hook either of the cables to my FTA box and get all Dish channels?

Says it is at P398, If I can get most channels just not all at the same time unless I switch cables on LNB... I thought that if Firmware was out dated that I would only get preview?

Disconnect the FTA equipment then try it, do a switch check on the 301 and see what happens.
If you only get the 110 or 119 satellite listed after that the the LNB may be FUBAR.
Big question....Did this work before? or is this a new setup?
A photo of the LNB may help us a bit.
Yes that's the first thing I thought that the fta was messing with the signal so I disconnect it, did a switch check and it says "only one satellite connected" If the LNB was bad it wouldn't work for FTA... Yes it worked before and had it a long time but has been down for a couple months. The LNB is a DP Plus. Thanks for all your help I really appreciate it!
The only thing I can find is I am only getting 75% signal, does not matter how good I adjust sat or what transponder the best it will get is 75 0n both 110 & 119.

uncheck the super dish or alternate boxes and run a switch test again, a super dish is a very old LNBF that included sat 101.
Yes tried that still saying only one sat connected, Ok if I buy another LNB what would be recommended for this setup? CardShare, DP301 IRD, In the NJ area? The setup I have now works fine for my FTA so maybe I will try another Dish for my Card Share. Thanks again for every ones help!

Sounds like the 301 is the problem, it may not be working correctly.
Unplug it from the AC wall socket and wait 5 min, then reconnect it, it should go through a switch check by it's self, if it still does not see the two satellites then it may have an internal problem.
The only way to test it would be to take it to a second location with the same setup and check it out.
And the "S" indication on the FTA receiver is for the connection from the receiver to the LNB, it has nothing to do with the signal, all it tells you is that you havew an active LNB at the other end and it's within "X" amount of feet from the receiver, if the "S" was below 45% then there could/would be a problem.

actually it was 121
I think your right about the 301 being the problem, I actually have 2 of them... the same guy set both of them up for card share and I think he did something to them so they only work with his setup. I told him it would only pick up one bird at a time so he sent another said it worked at his house but did the same thing? I thought before it had more options in "Check Switch" than now and it seems not to work with my setup.
I thought tha maybe since the 301 is a legacy reciver that it might not work and than I found this: "Another nice feature of DishPro Plus is it will work with legacy receivers as long there is at least one other DP compatible receiver in the system"

the 301 isn't a legacy ird
The Dish Network 301 satellite receiver was the work horse basic receiver for Dish Network. The 301 provided simple on screen graphic menus was the first receiver to come with the easy to use Blue Button Remote. The 301 was replaced by the Dish 311. The only real difference between the 301 and 311 is the absence of a removable smart card in the 311. The 301 was was the first Dish Network receiver to be DISH pro plus compatible and is still a very solid receiver, although usually only found in re-conditioned status.
Thanks for all the help, still not working so I am going to try an older lnb with a sw21 switch... if that don't work looks like I may need someone to look at my 301. Is anyone using CS or a setup like this anymore? Have no idea who to get to check my system for problems? Talked to guy that set up my IRD said he uses two old Dave dishes with a SW21 switch? Seems the IRD might have to have a set up like this? Just does not make any sense to me!
This is how that receiver is described: "The Dish 301 satellite receiver is DISH Network's standard legacy receiver model". But if that is not the issue than further discussion is a waste of space here.
Well I finally got it, It was the LNB... changed it to a legacy lnb and started working went through the proper test 1-38 would not do that with the DPPLUS lnb. So thanks for all the help I now can watch 110 and 119 at the same time!
