View Full Version : SES1 101W with a dtv dish?

Is it possible? I just want to get Me TV. I have a Viewsat HD MAX, Pro, and Ultra. Might have an NFusion laying too. I have an 18" pointed at 101W Direct TV. But I could put up a larger dish if needed.

You will need a "C" band LNB and a much larger dish then an 18 inch, a 39 inch "C" band dish has been done, (with strong signals on the "C" band satellite) but the best bet is at least a 6 footer, but a "C" band LNB is a must.

I think I have a 42" dish laying around. What lnb should I get. Can you recommend one on ebay? BTW I'm up in Canada, but I don't think that matters.

Of course it matters! The satellites have footprints and where you are in that footprint determines how strong a signal you get and what size dish you might have to use.
I did get Me TV on 101 for a while on my 1.2 Meter dish, I haven't been able to do that for a long while. I suspect you will need bigger than 42 inch--try 6 foot or better.

The footprint seems to be pretty good for southern Canada. I'm pissed I tore down my BUD. Don't know if I have room for a 6' dish now. 4' would be pushing it.

4' dish may get you a handful of channels on c band but 6', in my opinion, is the smallest to use as I would recommend a 10' dish. The esx241 lnbf for c band works great, do not get one of those c/ku band lnbs as ku band suffers.

Just don't know if I have the room for a 10' dish. I just want to get Me TV, Heroes and Icons, and Movies! But Me TV is the priority. After being at my vacation home in Florida and received MeTV OTA, I want it up in Canada.

You have a computer. Have you heard of streaming? Type in metvnetwork and then you won't need the 10 footer.

Most US sats are quite strong in our Canadian parts. I have attempted c band with a 6' solid and most tp did scan in but a few were glitchy. Ses 1 shouldn't be a problem with a 6' solid and they aren't overly expensive.

You try with a 4' dish? I definitely have one of those laying around. That I can put on the roof.

6' is the smallest dish I have ever tested c band with. Most NA sats and tp scanned in with a few tough ones. I have seen 6'(1.8m) dishes at a reasonable price on ebay.
