The Vancouver Canucks will resume the longest sequence of road games in NHL history when the Northwest Division co-leaders take on the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at Nationwide Arena.
With the city of Vancouver hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, the hometown Canucks were forced to play their final eight contests prior to the NHL suspending its schedule in mid-February for the Games. The club will begin its post-break slate with a six-game road trip before finally returning to GM Place on Mar. 13.
Vancouver has gone 4-4-0 thus far on the stretch, but was a 6-2 loser at Minnesota on February 14 in its most recent time out. Goaltender Roberto Luongo struggled between the pipes in that one, with the four-time All-Star yielding five goals on 32 shots before being pulled with 11:56 remaining in the third period.
