I am scanning in 110, 119, and 118 with 97 to 99% quality on each sat. I get a good banner identifying each sat before I scan it. I scanned all 3 sats and then when going thru the channel list, I see a lot of channels missing. is this normal? or is there something I am not aware of that is going on?

You need to check the horizontal and vertical transponders, the lnb converts or swiches from 18 volts to 13 volts from channel to channel. If you are missing one or the other that would account for a bad lnb not switching or it is possible the problem lies within the reciever. Good place to start your trouble shooting.

You have scanned and have a thousand or so channels and by scrolling through them you noticed you are missing some. Care to share which ones?
Posting the dish/lnb you are using and antenna settings might help someone diagnose your problem.

I notice when I do a scan the H and the V switches ans the list of transponders works its way down, or as it goes thru each I see the blue scan, it goes to the next transponder and turns red for just a second or 2 and then turns blue and goes thru the scan of that transponder. switch looks like it is working. but it is not finding all the channels. do I need to update the transponder list some how?

Other possibilities to consider would be a drifting lnb, (not quite gone yet) a possible obstruction such as a tree or building, the dish may need tweaking, although you have good signal on one TP does not mean you have optimum signal on all. Just some things to consider.
Check your list against the info in the link below:

You could go straight to lnb(no switch) and scan. If all is good then use a w21 to switch between satellite
