In an earlier thread I posted that Marshawn Lynch just donated $20 grand and probably another $50 grand to Goodell and the NFL.
Generally speaking the plight of ex NFL players hit the media big time @ 2011 re concussion syndrome of many of the players by a pending litigation in a federal court citing improper care and handling of the players involved. The evidence being overwhelming against the NFL they had no chance of winning such a judgement and soon knew others would follow suit.
What followed was sheer genius on the part of the NFL`s owners(Goodell).........they settled. They settled with the NFLPA and all the litigants leaving no precedent that could be cited by others for future claims.
This cost the NFL and the owners millions...................OR DID IT??
Consider this.....let`s say settling the claims cost the NFL $100,000,000 just for argument`s sake.
in the year 2011 before settlement but not before filing.......fines to the players were $9,000,000......Goodell settled the pending cases without going to court.......2014 the fines over the NFL have gone over a staggering $25,000,000. Goodell`s fines go unchecked in as far as who he fines, how much and when.
With that in mind how long would it take the NFL to pay all the settlements without costing the NFL owners one thin dime?......in essence you have the players of today actually paying off the settlements of the players of yesterday and it continues. The NFLPA can`t have a gripe because it filed a claim and the claim was settled. Goodell is a genius, a crooked one but still a genius.
Across the board we`ve seen $100,000 fines for clipping, $20,000 for helmet/helmet contact, improper shoes, swearing etc etc.
Football is a contact sport, a violent sport and people will get hurt even die as in the rare cases.....that was NOT the argument .....the basis for the claims were that players received improper or no care for their injuries citing liability of the team.
What do you think????
