In an earlier thread I posted that Marshawn Lynch just donated $20 grand and probably another $50 grand to Goodell and the NFL.

Generally speaking the plight of ex NFL players hit the media big time @ 2011 re concussion syndrome of many of the players by a pending litigation in a federal court citing improper care and handling of the players involved. The evidence being overwhelming against the NFL they had no chance of winning such a judgement and soon knew others would follow suit.
What followed was sheer genius on the part of the NFL`s owners(Goodell).........they settled. They settled with the NFLPA and all the litigants leaving no precedent that could be cited by others for future claims.
This cost the NFL and the owners millions...................OR DID IT??

Consider this.....let`s say settling the claims cost the NFL $100,000,000 just for argument`s sake.
in the year 2011 before settlement but not before filing.......fines to the players were $9,000,000......Goodell settled the pending cases without going to court.......2014 the fines over the NFL have gone over a staggering $25,000,000. Goodell`s fines go unchecked in as far as who he fines, how much and when.

With that in mind how long would it take the NFL to pay all the settlements without costing the NFL owners one thin dime?......in essence you have the players of today actually paying off the settlements of the players of yesterday and it continues. The NFLPA can`t have a gripe because it filed a claim and the claim was settled. Goodell is a genius, a crooked one but still a genius.

Across the board we`ve seen $100,000 fines for clipping, $20,000 for helmet/helmet contact, improper shoes, swearing etc etc.

Football is a contact sport, a violent sport and people will get hurt even die as in the rare cases.....that was NOT the argument .....the basis for the claims were that players received improper or no care for their injuries citing liability of the team.

What do you think????

Unfortunately as you so stated Cobra Football is a contact sport and players should know what the consequences may be... I do agree on setting a fund.. But mostly for players from back in the day that did not make all that money players now a days are making.... They should be educated in saving some of that money for when they will need it after their careers are over... Along with maybe some insurance???.. That's my take..

Players are covered to a certain extent for their injuries that a re ongoing thru the NFLPA......these claims were separate from the standard injuries in that the injuries had they not been ignored, misdiagnosed etc could have been treated successfully.

some reports refer to Goodell as "One of the mos powerful men" in America ....
I would want him on my Board of Directors anytime, because in corporate
America the only thing that matters is ,,,,,,, Bottom Line

No question that he along with Gary Bettman of the NHL are true geniuses in their craft. They both work for the owners and have brought more success and financial stability to their respective sport than any player could ever hope to achieve. That`s why they earn the big bucks they are paid for a reason.......results.

yeup!! couldn't have said it better, Cobra
Also, let's not forget the players ,, Goodell and Bettman's successes are directly
related to salary cap which in essence is passed on to players salaries ... If NFL'er
are privy to 20Mil a year salaries ,, they can thank Goodell and Bettman

Now having said that ,,, we need to take the ugly along with all this good
however ,, as much as there is ugly ,,, there is more good

Well I won`t call either of them "good"....but both of them spell success in spades. My dad was wrong...liars and cheaters do get ahead with the proper support system.
