Hi folks, I'm having a little problem here and I wonder if it's something I'm doing wrong, or if it's simply a limitation of this box's software.

Essentially, every SD channel just stretches horizontally on my 16:9 display.

No matter what I set in the AV menu for aspect ratio, resolution, letterboxing/pillarboxing (I've tried pretty much every combination known to man), it just stretches the image. Nothing I set seems to make any difference whatsoever.

Is this normal? Am I missing a step in order to get the changes to apply? I want SD to be pilarboxed so that the aspect ratio is correct. Seems like it should be so simple!

Thanks for any tips, tricks, suggestions, comments, etc, that you may have!

Well I messed around with it more today, tried component outs in case that was helpful, but made no difference.

The only workaround I've found right now is that when I'm watching an SD channel, I can change the STB to 480p output resolution--at that point my TV gives me more flexible zoom/resize options in the on-screen menus and I can size it properly.

I guess I have to chalk this up to a software bug in the STB? Would be nice if somebody could jump in and confirm.

Yeah I found the same thing. Didn't try changing to 480.

Was there ever a fix for this issue in the later bins?
