VANCOUVER (WIVB) - Sidney Crosby beat Ryan Miller in overtime to give Canada a 3-2 win and the Olympic hocky gold medal. Crosby's goal came 7;40 into the extra session off a pass from Jarome Iginla.
Miller was named the tournament MVP. He and the USA team win the silver medal. In the handshake line after the game, Miller and Canada assistant coach Lindy Ruff talked for about :30 seconds, smiled and embraced.
Zach Parise's goal with :25 seconds tied the game and sent it to overtime. Parise's goal came with an extra attacker on the ice and Ryan Miller on the bench. The goal came shortly after a misplay by Roberto Luongo, who could not glove a high shot. Before Parise scored, a shot in front appeared to bounce off the skate on Jamie Langenbrunner.
Jonathan Toews and Corey Perry also scored for the Canadians. Ryan Kesler had the other USA goal.
Toews beat Ryan Miller off a rebound of a Mike Richards shot. Richards had stolen the puck from USA defenseman Brian Rafalski.
Anaheim Ducks teammates Ryan Getzlaf and Perry combined to give Canada a 2-0 lead.
But Patrick Kane's shot was deflected in by Kesler to pull the Americans within one. Kane has two assists.
Miller made 36 saves. Canada outshot the USA 39-36.
