O.K. Sorry... Didn't know where to put this question since there is no true IPTV section.....yet... bet there will be soon though.

Maybe somebody can help me out a little on the IPTV, the next greatest thing......

I don't know much about it, but I do know you get it off your internet.
I guess there are dedicated IPTV boxes you can buy, and... some how you can get streaming TV and what I'm hearing, you can even stream such things as HBO and the likes.

My next question:

I have a Samsung blue ray player that has some sort of streaming items on it.
I was even able to add a "IPTV" icon. It says it has expired and I need to make a Paypal donation to a site in the EU to make it work... but it also says I have to add my own channel list....

Any idea what they are talking about??? and where do I get a channel list??

is this thing on my blue ray player an IPTV thing??? or do I, or should I buy a stand alone IPTV box..... then, I say What kind and brand.....?

Thanks for letting me hang out here and stumble along and learn friends...

sounds like they are charging you for an iptv player which should be free. channel lists you can install yourself were hard to find but getting easier every day. considering iptv you need to look at your internet provideer first and see what bandwidth you have available and whether the data is capped or not

I like my "Roku 3500R" streaming stick, (Google for it) it plugs into one of the spare HDMI ports on the HDTV, it connects to your internet via WIFI, I use it for Netflix, but there are lots of other services you can sub to with it.

And as Nostradamus mentioned, you should check to see what your ISP's download bandwidth cap is before jumping out and buying something that may stop working if you go over your monthly allotment.

or even worse, keeps on working after it reaches the cap and then get a bill for a $1000 for additional data LOL

Aside from NFPS/Rocket,etc coming up with an IPTV offering, are any of you guys aware of an IPTV service that is already up?

You can download several apps to your pc to experiment. For general tv watching, dowload xbmc with a few add-ons like navi-x,mashup ect.If you're a movie buff, download popcorntime & watch away.As mentioned already,be aware of what internet bandwidth you're using in relation to your i.p. package.Going over is costly.
Those above mentioned downloads will at least give you some taste of iptv.If you like it,you can then decide if you would like to invest in one of the android boxes pre-loaded,or another format.I build & enjoy htpc myself:endless possibilities & superior performance.

I've tried Navi-X on the raspberry pi, it's pretty cool.

Our internet is unmetered, for now thankfully, so that's not an issue. Gotta love grandfathered plans haha.

My understanding is the NFPS one is more live stuff. Does anybody know of other providers like that that support the MAG254 box?
