Hello,

Did not know which thread to post this in.
But here is whats going on...

I have a disk turbo disk. 110 & 119 are fine, but the trees are in the way of the 129 satellite.
so looking at the trees for standing under the dish,, witch tree do I trim or cut down?
the one on the left side or the one of the right side? I have a strait shoot for the 110 &199 down the open middle.

Thanks for your help...

Well remember that the LNB's are reversed on the arm, looking from the back of the dish, the 110W LNB is on the right, the one for 119 is in the middle and the one for 129 is on the left, so the 129W satellite would be on the right (looking from the back of the dish) side of the dish, so any trees to the right side of the dish should be trimmed or removed.

Put the dish on the tree. Then you don't have to cut anything.

Then all he has to worry about is wind fade.

I was referring to a tree not a branch. There is no wind fade unless it is a very small tree and as you know, reception is better the closer you are to the ground, so the dish would be installed at arms length(5 feet as demonstrated in picture) for great functionality and access if you need to tweak.

I was joking around, but i have some 150 foot tall pine trees here, in a good wind they move back and forth by at least 6 feet. (3 feet each way)

To clear some of the trees around here you would need to mount the dish at the very top of the tallest one.

Sorry not true, reception would be the same at ground level or 1000 feet above ground.

But the lenght of coax would matter.

What if you are north, you would have to worry about those pesky beavers. lol.

Well in my 70 some years I have learned to put the dish a little closer to the ground and usually the tree is an oak or maple with 2 to 4 foot base which DOES not move in any wind. Installing up a pine tree makes no sense as they don't have much of a base and swing in the wind. If the dish is installed at arms length then changing l n b or switches and tweeting makes the install a pleasure. 200 feet out using toroidal dish with reverse polarity l n b worked perfect for me for many years. Having a dish installed up the tree or up on a house makes no sense since you are approximately 22000 miles away from satellite and 10 feet is neither here no there.

Yes I get a chuckle out of neighbors climbing ladders and roof tops when they have a perfect line of sight much closer to the ground. I keep mine high enough that it can't be tampered with easily yet I can access it with a small step ladder. All switches are inside to avoid any outside maintenance in inclement weather.Mature strong trees are not a real problem if you have no other locations available.

Simple solution download the free App "satfinder" and use the camera function for clear view of the tree!!
