I believe it does. All the other Pansats I've tried do beep. It depends on the type TP's you are searching. What sat(s) are you interested in searching?

You will find your answer in the menu of the receiver, it should give you the option to have it turned on or off if its in the file you have loaded.

friend the first time it takes longer, but after that its easy galaxy 19 at 97.w its about 20 degrees to your left from sat 110,the easyest way its to take a small portable tv and the receiver where the dish is connect everything including putting the settings and be looking at the small tv while your moving the dish little by little until you hit the signal and quality, its that easy I installed hundreds of satellite dishes this way....

If there is an extra body around, one in front of the tv watching for banner and signal while one is moving the dish via walkie talkie, cell phones, mobile phone etc... I don't know why people put these on the roof if they have a lower access point, mine can be accessed from a small step ladder and all my switches are inside the house. Gets cold out there at times. lol.

Well just to be sure i tested the receiver and apparently there is no beep sound when you press the signal button twice it should show the signal bar with the beeping sound that works with all older receivers it must be a firmware error that was never corrected and another thing when you are on sat install menu if you press the signal button or the green button instead of showing the signal bar it shows the diseqc swich menu
this was done with factory firmware :noidea:

The beep function is actually interesting. Some processors have an audio generator built in like the STi5518 in the old pansats, some have it implimented in odd ways--I was playing with a Broadcom processor the other day and its audio generator is implimented by loading amplitude info into a set of registers that are then transfered into the audio DAC. As I recall the coolsat 5000 has a beep func and it is a Conexant processor as is the pansat 9200 I believe.,

---------------------------edit---------------------
Seems the coolsat5000 code for Conexant processor uses a small table of PCM amplitude data to do the beep--0x4a bytes of 8 bit audio data that if run at 48K sampling gives you about a 820Hz tone, but for the Q reading they run it at different sample rates in play back.

Looking at the 9200 pansat code I don't see similar code, but I do see that the box has the ability to playback an audio clip using a similar method as the cs5k uses to play the 820 tone--perhaps you could go in and branch out to code to add beep (read the "anyone want to mod code" thread)

Nop not just the 3500 the 2500 and the 2700 also do beep i can confirm that, the problem with the 9200HD is wen you press the sig button two times the sig bar that shows cuts the channel sound but goes mute to me it's a firmware problem
