Phil Davis owns victories over prominent Brazilian fighters Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Lyoto Machida and now, after UFC 179, Glover Teixeira.

Following his co-main event victory on Saturday, “Mr. Wonderful” turned his attention to another famous name: former middleweight ruler Anderson Silva.

“Lately they’ve been calling me ‘The Brazilian Killer,’ but I really don’t like that,” Davis said. “I have beat a lot of Brazilians and there’s one Brazilian guy I’d like to face, and that’s Anderson Silva.”

Davis bounced back from his loss to Anthony Johnson with an impressive wrestling performance against a struggling Teixeira, who has now dropped back-to-back fights. The Alliance MMA product was able to ground the former No. 1 contender enroute to a unanimous decision.

While Davis is calling for a fight with “Spider,” it could be quite some time before the bout comes to fruition: Silva already has a date set with Nick Diaz in early 2015.

During the post-fight press conference, Davis shed a bit more light on why he named Silva, as opposed to the other prominent 205-pound fighters in the top-five conversation.

“He’s an awesome fighter, probably one of the best to ever compete in the UFC, so why not?” Davis said. “All the questions during the media day were centered around being ‘The Brazilian Killer.’ I wouldn’t say that I’m necessarily that, but he’s another one of those big names.”
