While Marcos Ambrose prepares to say “G’day, mates’ to Richard Petty Motorsports and NASCAR before he returns to race V8 Supercars in his native Australia, a group of fellow countrymen are doing the exact opposite.

According to Motorsport.com, Australian-based Roo Motorsports will compete on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series next season. It’s the first Australian-owned team ever in any of NASCAR’s three major series.

The Brisbane, Australia-based team has already opened a shop in Salisbury, North Carolina and is getting a head start on next season. It also has a homegrown sponsor, Sax Suspension, an Australian manufacturer of suspensions.

Australian driver Scott Saunders will pilot the No. 49 Chevrolet Silverado. Saunders has three prior starts in the Nationwide Series, all in 2012, with a best finish of 28th.
