sonicview 8000 or dreamlink t5

Hello, I have a chance to buy a usued but like new cond. sv8k. Seller says it has the 8psk red card and a svlan., but no remote for $150. I have been away from fta for a while, and want to get back in. Can I check anything out without hooked up to sats. I;m concerned from some reading about a bad power supply, motherboard, or bad svlan. I have read great things about this receiver. I believe it also has an ota tuner which would help for my projector. My other choice is a new dreamlink t5. Any advice or opinions would help me decide. thx. what would you pick?

dreamlink ......i have sv 8000 ....sooo much can go wrong ...that svlan is a pain ...i,m looking into a diff receiver ....meg ..

You have a choice between a used box that could have unforeseen problems like bad power supply, motherboard, swollen caps or bad avian and no warranty versus a new box that with in a reasonable length of time you can return for a new box if there are any hiccups.

Thanks, I. Really don't want any hassles, if they are such a pain and a lemon, why does everyone praise them so highly. A lot of folks say. Hands down, the greatest box ever. What is so fantastic about these?
