I am not new to FTA / IKS but have not connected to an existing dish hd pro, I believe it is 1000.2, it has 3 LNB's and I think they are 110, 119 and 129. Appears to be no switches but could be in the LNB's. I am guessing that I need to add a dpp44 and run power to port 1 for this to work properly? The picture below shows the dish and LNB's

This type of LNB does not need the external DPP44 switch, however this LNB does need the DPP44 switches power inserter to run it with most FTA receivers.
And your right, you add the power inserter to port #1, and run a second coax to the FTA receiver.

No you don't need a switch, the switch is built in the LNB but you will need a power inserter to feed that power hog LNB.

Thanks 180. Searching on e-bay and they go from 20.00 for used to 60.00 for new. I want power inserter only not switch right?Where is best place to get one? Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Just got the 1000.2 dish and now am really confused, the instruction manual page 13 reads-- WESTERN ARC--CONNECTING THE D1000.2 WA TRIPLE LNBF TO A DPP44 SWITCH. Why these instruction if it is installed already? The dish says DISH HD not Turbo.

That is for the use of more then 3 Dish single input receivers, or two or more dual input Dish receivers**, two dual receivers with two coaxes to each, or 4 dual input receivers with DP separators running all..
**You can run 3 dual Dish receivers with a DP separator on each.
Note: DP separators will not work with FTA receivers.
Second note: You still have to use the DP44 power inserter with the Dish 1000 LNB when using an FTA receiver that is not rated to 650 mA or more, and you can only run 2 FTA recivers on the D1000 LNB.
Why?
Because the #1 port is used for the DP44 power inserter, most FTA receivers don't like the DP44 power inserter inline with them, so you only have 2 ports to run the FTA receivers off, if you need more then 2 receivers then the DP44 switch is used, you can run a total of 9 receivers using 3 switches, 3 ports for receivers and one port for the DC power inserter per switch.
Sorry my fault........Too much coffee again.

Firstly, you need a power inserter to run this dish, connected to the first port of the lnb. Second, you would only need a dpp44 switch if you plan on receiving signal in 4 rooms instead of 3.

OK thank you I now get it and will order a dpp44 power inserter and go from there. Thanks to all and especially Terryl for great explanation.:yeaah: Just ordered the power inserter and notice that one end goes to "switch input" (port 1?) but the other says to "receiver satellite" in. Is this correct? I understood that the port 2 would go to receiver so that would mean nothing hooked to "receiver satellite in" correct?
