Viewsat ultra (Rookie starting out)

Hi there,

So I just took my viewsat ultra from the attic and want to get it going again. Its been a loooonggg while since I have used it. Friends of mine have the Slimsat 5000 and it works great, however trying to get one its almost impossible. I want to use my viewsat since I know how to navigate with it etc. Last thing that I have used is the WF for this unit. Other than that I have no idea what I doing... Could someone please guide me in the right direction on how to get this started. I have no idea how to get into a server etc.

Just PC? Meaning the receiver must be connected directly to computer to work? I tried the first bin and thebbox took it. I am stuck on the second part. I am not sure how to run the PC to the box.... Just wanted to clarify to see what I am doing wrong.

Question: I have been looking on youtube on this is all done. Very confusing for a rookie. I have windows 7 downloaded the files, etc. But how do I enter the server into the box? Do I enter codes manually? Is there a specific way? I am getting the xfta if that helps in any way. It looks so easy on youtube but I cant figure it out. Any help would save me. Thanks!

I tried the codes. No TV. Have no idea what I am doing wrong. I have it set up to my PC- entered codes and nothing... Is there something that I am missing? I connected WF to PC- only way to get cables to connect. Is there a certain website that I need to be on in order for it to work? Do I use windows 7? Any programs that I need? Also my box is saying "autoroll"

Autoroll does not work anymore, so turn it off in menu. I don't know why you are still using WF--it does not work anymore either. Use serial cable from box to PC just as one would do to load box with bin file. As for
"is there a certain website"--well, any IKS server that does rq-sssp format requests. As far as I know any windows after NT is fine. Linux has an rq-sssp client file, too. You need rq-sssp client running on PC.

Thank you jvvh5897, apparently I was way off in getting this set up. I am pretty new at this stuff and really-really appreciate your help. I have seen the IKS sites, etc. and I will go there to get what I need. At the mean time I need to figure out how to do the rq-sssp. Also, I dont know what you mean by "windows after NT." Sorry if it sounds dumb but I am pretty new on getting this set up. Any other advise would save me.... Thanks a million!

1) Installed PFTAUSW-Cleaner-U
2) Installed PFTAUSW-080328U-SSSP-V1
3) Installed PFTAUSW-070421U
4) Installed PFTAUSW-110802U
5) Installed rq-sssp-client.exe from windows sssp setup for dummies folder (link above)
6) Setup COM#
7) Got server login information
8) Start rq-sssp-client
9) I get following msg Initializing Serial Communication: Done, Connecting to card server...... Connected, Client Ready! - Waiting for requests....

On VS no change, no video or sound. under series setup menu, Newwork S/W Upgrade, New sotware: DX-X00-N App 2.00.19. When click on network s/w version: press ok to upgrade, nothing happens.

Please advice on what I am doing wrong.

Series cable with null female to female cable + male to usb.

I put the file on a thumb drive, the receiver doesn't seem to want to take it. I haven't used the receiver since 2010, been reading and reading, I know I am doing something wrong....any help would be appreciated....Thanks

You not doing anything wrong ! just need a paid Private Server which not free need to donating to get activated go here in the Forum IKS Servers and read their post,!:wove:
