About a year before that fight, Cleveland Williams suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. After being pulled over by a Texas State Trooper for alleged drunk driving the trooper shot him with a .357 Magnum, lost about 10 feet of intestines. Pretty tough guy to get back in the ring a year later.
