Hello,
I am having a problem aligning my dish to catch 110 & 119 and could use some help.

Receiver:
Kbox - signal 90%, quality 20%
Nfusion Solaris - signal 50%, quality 0%
waiting for my Jynxbox in the mail.

Here are the specs:

Location: Southern Ontario
Dish: 18"
Elevation: 28.9°
LNB: 2 EMP DSS Dual Output Circular LNBF EMP-N888K
Switch: B.E.S.T Germany 4x1DiSEqC compliant 2.0 switch

LNB Type: single
LNB Freq: 11.250
LNB 22KHz: OFF
DISEqC Switch 1.0: 1
DISEqC Switch 1.1: off
Legacy Switch: off

I have set up a few of these in the past without any problem so I am a little stumped. I have never used these LNBs before. Could this be the problem? LNB specs below:

Description:
It is the brand new EMP DSS Dual Output Circular LNBF EMP-N888K, used for satellite reception in North America. It fit with 18" dish that has a rectangular shaped LNBF feed bracket (D shaped bracket doesn't fit). It has 0.3dB noise figure that is 8-10% better signal strength than 0.6dB LNBF.

Features:

- Dual output LNBF
- From the makers of Zinwell LNBF
- Light weight and small size for easy installation
- Covers DSS Ku-band satellite frequencies (12.2-12.75 GHz)
- Low noise figure of 0.3 dB for improved signal reception (specially on weak signal) and low interference
- Voltage-controlled RH/LH switching (13/18 V)
- The feed diameter is a standard 40mm thus allowing this LNB to be mounted effortlessly on almost
any offset dish, such as Fortec Star 80,90,100, and 120cm
- Circular type
- Excellent isolation
- Compatible with US direct TV system
- Various input frequency range and L.O. for world wide market
- Excellent D.R.O. stability
- Super compact tooling
- Optional for 23mm feed horn
- Waterproof guaranteed

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks you

sounds like u are trying to put two lnbs on a dish that was made for one lnb. what kind of dish u got? if u got a dish 500 u can skew on the back , if u got a old dtv dish u need a bracket or some wire ties to have the lnbs together.

The dish is the same size as the old dtv dish 18". I do have a bracket. The attached image is what my setup looks like.

the lnbs u have should be ok . when I line up a dish I take a small tv and the stb out to the dish. I go into the menus and find the signal screen . go on lynsat and input ur area.

also remember the first couple of tps are dead on one of them ,the satellites I mean. u got to go up a couple to get a signal to show on the signal meter.

That is exactly what I am doing. I have a tv and stb out by the dish when I am trying to align. I gathered info from lynsat and dishpointer to make sure I am pointer at the right spot. I even tried connecting to 119w without a switch and bracket and using a short high quality coaxial cable RG-6. I can not get more than 20% quality.

tp 11250, 10705, 12224 all bring in 20% quality. Thanks lobsterpot for your feedback.

Does anyone have experience using this LNBF? EMP DSS Dual Output Circular LNBF EMP-N888K

You want the LO frequency of the LNB set to 11250, the first transponder on 119W to use would be 12457R, this would be different for 110W.

Now for the direction, the setup you have shown has an LNB taped to one side, now you must remember that when looking at 2 or more satellites the signals criss-cross each other as they bounce off the dish.

So you will have the LNB for 110 on the right side of the mount (looking from the back of the dish) the LNB for 119 will be on the left.

Also depending on your location one LNB will have to be higher or lower then the other, or the dish it's self will have to be skewed clockwise or counter clockwise, all this depending on your location.

I would suggest a different dish, one setup for 2 LNB's, one like the Dish 500 would be perfect, or a better mount, one that would set the elevation of the LNB's correctly.

On a D500 dish the 2 LNB's are mounted 4.5 degrees off center, (one to the left, one to the right) you then point the dish in-between the two satellites.

Thank you for the advice Terryl. I am copying the same setup I had at a previous location (2 LNBs, bracket on a 18" dish) to a new home within the same town so my hardware setup shouldn't be an issue. It has to be my tp settings. I'll try adjusting those setting. What tp should I start with for 110w?

Use TP 12224R for 110 and TP 12457R for 119.

Use TP 12224R for 110 and TP 12457R for 119.

Thank you Terryl! I will report back my results when weather permits me to venture outside. I have to align the dish slightly.

21113The LNBs are perfect, the problem is the bracket that you are using is outdated.
In GTA the center LNB is 119 and the one to the north is 110.
