hi all,

I was hit with an electrical storm this past Friday. all my FTAs got fired, I am looking to at least replace one of the 3 that I had (sonic 8000, jynxbox, and viewsat maxx). What do I actually need to get started? I know I need the LS 500 or 400 module for HD, is there anything else I should know about?

Linkbox is a great choice, I have a 8000 HD Plus as well converted to the Ilink 9800 software, I like the guide on the Ilink better, you would be wise to ground your pan and use a surge strip to protect your equipment in the future.

I got the 8000 local and I hate it. my old sonicview 360 premiere is more dependable it always works without an issue except when there's an ecm loll. My local keep loosing time, if I turn it off when I reopen it it turns on a channel I never watch. My favorites keep loosing there name and return to just fav!!! etc etc. I sorry you had your Stb fried by a storm. The same thing happened to me with the dreamlink I had before. I should of bought that again instead of this 8000 local.

Got to go do some reading and see if I can convert to ilink like Hedley and see if that well help.
A lot of people don't seam to have any issues with it, wondering if the 8000 plus is better than the local.

what is the difference between local and plus? Plus with LS500 card? Local??

The local has dual Input (Satellite - DVB S2 and Terrestrial - ATSC)

The LS500 card is to get HD from satellite. Need it in the local also.

do not mess with the Factory file, just load the latest P$ Bin file and do a Factory reset after you load the bin.
