Okay I found an old solaris/remote in the garage in a pile of over a dozen old receivers and I see here that it might still work BUT....

I don't even own a PC any more with a serial cable. I have the bins (and could probably find a loader program on the internet) but only have laptops now. Can I push the files through the Ethernet cable? Can they be found on the net using the solaris? Should I just add it back to the paper weight collection in the garage?

Current software Boot R3X1.3 software 1.54.2 IPVR 77

Should I just plug in the network and try SW upgrade?

This is one for the experts as it has been collecting dust a long time. Could probably chase down an old desktop with serial cable support if no other options. Would be a project though.

you may need a usb to rs232 adapter cable. it plugs into usb then other end to receiver.

Thanks bgd2. Will search for one through the techies at work. Probably less work than finding an old PC. All my files went when I decommissioned the old desktop hard drive at the rifle range.

I tried to do an SW update but it couldn't find the server. Figured as much. This will be a fun project for the weekends if I can get the cable.

If u run goo3 u won't have to change the bin on that Solaris

I believe that bin will work with NOI or IKS4SUNS as wall

Okay I managed to find an old laptop with a serial port and a USB. I have all the files discussed in the relevant threads including the ten step process of Xtreme Instruction for NFusion SD only PLUS I have found the GOO3 file.

My box seems to lock up about half way through the xtreme process and I have to go back to the factory bin to get any life out of it. (it just shows a red light and nothing else).

Where does the goo3 bin fit into these steps? As an alternative? Can I just load that bin onto my box and hook it to the internet? Don't want to brick it now (or my router).

Will wait for some responses before proceeding. Excited about getting this old receiver up and running again after years of collecting dust.

i think it might be easier for you to start it up with noi. look it up you will need to download it and run it on your laptop. i dont think that extreme bin is working and the goo3 bin needs to run off of your router, you will also need to get a subscription to a private server also.
