Using a 33" Direct TV dish with a single LNB (Dish). What FTA
Sats can I expect to pickup? Which ones have channels worth watching.

A dish LNB is only going to pick up circular polarized signals. FTA sats send down signals with linear polarization, so you are going to pick up no true FTA sats. A linear LNB is cheap though, you can find them for $10US or so.

I tried an LNBF and didn't have much luck. Thanks for the reply.
ps-Should I go after KU or C Band satellites?

With a 33 inch dish you are not likely to get much on C band, though some have played with mini-BUDs of 39 inches and above with some success (it has to do with the beamwidth of the dish more than the gain).
There is a "free TV" list at lyngsat site that has what you can expect to get with a good setup at Ku and C bands. What your FTA box can get depends on what type of signals it can work with. Not knowing what your tastes are, hard to say what you might want to try to get. The 97 degree Ku band satellite is one that most go for if interested in other languages though there are a few english language channels that I watch off of 97 degree sat.

A 33' dish is way too small for "C" band satellites.
I have even tried a 39" dish without much luck.
The smallest I would go for would be a 4 foot to 6 foot dish, but a ten foot dish with a linear motor would do better, that way you could use a combo "C" and "Ku" band LNB and get them all on one setup.
