Dreamlink SD T4: So Far

Hello everyone got a new update from my brother who has been testing the T4 for a little while now, here was his feedback:

Pretty decent sd picture, better than then older SD and HD models. Channel changes are smooth and quick, the epg bug only get 2 hours at a time for guide no matter what anyone does still in effect. There is a hardware or software tuner issue and this causes a few channels to not come in at all (Bad or no Signal) that work on previous HD and SD . Favorites groups bug has been fixed and correct EPG information is being displayed (No more porn info bug). Aspect changes in menu are functioning but only between 4:3 and 16:9, Letterbox or full screen. PVR has improved greatly and does record at full quality (Roughly 10mbs per minute). No pix-elation has been seen yet. Looking forward to the next file to test.

A friend bought the DL T4 and brought it over to help him set it up. It has the same features as the DL HD unit so it was very easy to load the factory file and then the 102 bin. Very fast scans of the sats 110, 119 and 91. I used the HDMI cable and tried viewing some SD channels. Overall the sd is in the same class as the DL HD. The epg goes up to 4 days for dish and 2 days for bev. The unit will be very good if it will have an HD option. I found the aspect ratio not to my liking as although it has 4:3 and 16:9 letterbox or full screen all I could get was the 16:9 letterbox and not the 4:3 full screen. However it depends on what the channel you are watching is sending. e.g when watching a movie on 526 it is in full screen whereas most of the other sd channels it is in 16:9 letterbox no matter what the setting is on. That is something that will need fixing.

I have one T4,

Its not working with "Telus Actiontech V1000" modem..........(a very common) modem by telus.

I used Dlink-615......in b/w telus modem/router and sat-box and it worked fine.
slight bit of pixilation at the beginning then it smooths out.
definately crisp color, rst is same like other Dreamlinks.

friend of a friend just got one. Biggest issue is that sat 119 is not able to scan channels due to this box not happy with signal/quality. Was fine for other boxes but this one is less forgiving. Trouble is dish is mounted very high and tough to adjust. Setup went fine except it feels odd to not see settings installed as you progress. It did take 2 servers with no other issues though. I will advise him of news from this thread. Thx

have your friend load this file and see if can get 119 (he'll have to set the diseqc info again after loading)

When re-checking all settings, sat 119 was on wrong lnb frequency. Scrolled to correct one...got decent S and Q...scanned in and all good. I should have been more careful. Thx

just got one of these bad boys today and my opinion...very nice. set up and guide and menu is identical to dreamlink so very easy to set up, especially if your used to dreamlink hd. we still have the info in epg issue. dont know why they cant get that fixed.
because of the info problem i give this a 9 out of 10.
shipped tpo my door for 155 bucks total. i dont see how ya can go wrong.

Hi Crazy carl Do SD T4 box need to hook up with the Router ?

When in epg hit the yellow button 2 times for dn blue button for B*v. Let it sit for 5 minutes to populate.
Check your switches/cables or settings. Could you have a tree creating signal interference.

my opinions on the t4 so far... picture slightly duller than the jynxbox ultra, which i found surprising, as i think the Jynxbox is a cheaper make. I played the Jynxbox ultra then the dreamlink t4, hard to tell the difference but as mentioned slightly duller picture i think. remote is great, very fast. dreamlink with nanosat wifi bridge has issues i think. question because the Jynxbox ultra is hd will all channels in general be a better picture than the sd models? one other annoying thing, which was the same with kbox models is when you use a motor and change sat's, it goes thru this slow cycle and and does it a second time, i forget what it says.
