My take of this Linkbox HD local. does C-band sats and Terrestrial for local channels really good. Takes a lot of tinkering to get everything running but with a lot of patients it will work. All video outs works good. I had fun setting everything up and still learning so with all that I would only get this box if you want to do C-band and local channels like I do but it does all. but for my big dish and locals I like it so far.

I don't have access to more than one box and the box was new when I loaded this 27 file and I did a factory default afterwards. What I did notice is the box with the 27 did not have all the scanning issues that I have had with the plus boxes and their files. What a relief really for sometimes with them I thought scanning might take all night long. Now with the the local box I first started having issues trying to select a satellite or even trying to select another, the box seems to lock up but you are still able to use the controls on the front of the box and that I did to set up all the satellites with a 1000 plus it had everything automatically set which is weird or is that the factory default? Makes you wonder probably auto diseqc. And yes that part worked alright. Getting back to the issues I had which is now setting up private servers which is the same way as the pluses. Now once inside the private server area the port was no problem but entering the domain no go I had to enter it in all caps because it doesn't allow color code key function. After all this I was happy how the box worked the EPG is much better than the plus early files but that's not difficult. I just found that again the box would lock up here and there and you had to wait of reset the box with a hard reboot.

I don't know the relationship between Ilink and the link box but I did have a chance to mess with the i-link version of the plus and it worked perfectly wonder why we have such a huge difference between two sister boxes

If they do not have the same processor, they might not have the same coders and software base. The guys who distribute the boxes often use software from the processor makers to start with and then customize the look of the box but fiddle very little with the workings of the box and that customization might be done by whoever knows a little about the coding but not by a guy that knows much about FTA needs.

since there are repair files for people trying to use different files than intended you may be right.. one thing for certain the 8000 ilink and 8000 plus link box was the same after that all bets are off.

btw longtime supporter jvvh, thanks fot the responce.

Hum, Color code works for me. I just push the red button for caps and it goes to lower case. The remote is not that good compared to the DL. I have seen where peeps have used ilnk files for the new local also. I use mine mostly for FTA and Local channels and I did notice it will not scan true FTA channels with LS board only with factory board so I had to use factory board to get my true FTA channels but then when I put my LS board back in I still have the FTA channels that are not HD but I lose the HD ones so that is a pain. I still messing with it but so far I like it. Its a fun box. O yeah I forgot yes jvvh is one of the best!!

Been doing some testing of FTA channels. Whew!! There is a lot up there and more then I thought of free channels. I haven't even hooked up the KU yet just doing C-band channels but the Linkbox seems to be doing good on them. I think I need to hook back up the old Tracker V to help it out cause with the spacing so close its a little hard with just the Linkbox to find all them. Looks like this is going take a while and I hope I can save what I do.

Here is a few more results. I got KU hooked up and it works good but not able yet to get it to switch automatic from KU to C-band but able to do it manually. Really getting the hang of finding Sats I'm using the V-box and it seems like for every 15 to 20 numbers I move there is a sat so I got about half of them program into the box. I got my U-30 Pansat UHF remote and it works like a charm. Goes thru walls like they are not even there. I went with the U30 instead of the U50 cause it works better from what I have read and so far its great.
