Ok got a question for the dish gurus?

My buddy has a 24" pointed at 110 & 119. Good signal and quality (85+). Now I see my neighbor just tossed out one of the football type SC dishes. Of course I am going to grab it and I have an extra LNB in case my sub packs it in. Now question I have is if I modded the dish for him would that provide any better signal than the setup he currently has? I have modded the round SC dishes before but only had them pointed at one bird. I have never tried it with elliptical and am just wondering if it is worth the effort really

I doubt that it would help with just aiming at 2 sats. The oval dish is basically an elongated 18 inch dish (or 20 inch I forget). And as is said often, bigger is always better in this "hobby". So my guess is it wouldn't give a better signal and would probably be worse. But if he wanted to add 129, then yes it would be worth modding it.

thanks man! I am just going to grab it for spare parts then as that what i was thinking as it making no real difference as for 129 i have a 32" aimed at that so no benefit there really

Depends which dtv dish you found . The old kti dishes are on the small side , don't remember the dims - threw mine out a while back, but I did manage to get 119/110/92/81 with mine. Did require some mods ( a few posts in the dish subforum on the subject) and a lot iof tweaking , but of course that depends on location. The newer dishes are larger - measure yours.
